Can hardly wait to see what she looks like when she sheds out next spring :sunglasses:

It really is amazing what good food and care can do. Her color is so much deeper and darker than when you brought her home.

I think she wants a sheep of her own

Thank you!

Haha I think so too. Maybe she’s a sheepdog in a giraffe-horse body :joy:

I got there early this morning, after breakfast and before turnout, to do some ground work in the shade before it got hot.

She also got to meet 3 sheep so I think it was overall a good morning for Honey

Her eye in that head shot could not be any bigger or softer, she’s content and feels safe.

It’s been a few days.

I rode a few days ago! We just walked for a few min, but she stood at the mounting block like an angel and didn’t rear once.

She also good some good grooming. So good she was drooling.

I hurt my back the other day, gardening. So today I just hand grazed her. When she came in, she was flirting with her boyfriend and smiling at him :joy:

Fun news!:

I just won a super cute halter off of a raffle for Honey! I love spoiling her and showing her she’s loved

Also, someone at the barn today was so sweet and mentioned they really have noticed a change in her. She’s starting to get the hang of being brought in after turnout and not causing mayhem. She said she can tell she’s happy, content, and our work is paying off. How sweet is that?!

Lastly, my current goal with her is to make it to a rider biomechanics clinic, the kind with the bands that get put on you to make the rider sit straighter and evenly, mid November. I really want to do this clinic, even if we only walk. Fingers crossed that works out!

Good to see that lower lip drooping when shes crosstied and wearing the saddle…total contentment. Thats real progress.

I hadn’t thought of that. Thanks for pointing that out!

Hey guys!

Without getting too detailed, my life has taken a major change and will be rough for a while. Honey has been an amazing comfort to me, and was so sweet to let me sit outside her stall Monday night and cry, even though she kept yawning like “hi mom. Good to see you but it’s bedtime”.

So last night, I rode. We walked through puddles that she’s usually so scared of and over poles. And I even got a little bit of trotting done. I’m so beyond proud of her, and the crazy thing is my friend who is moonlighting as my coach with honey, said she has never seen me so calm. I think the weight of everything finally being lifted really translated to my riding.

I’m so proud of Honey and I. She’s beyond special.

Life sucks sometimes, it happens.

You look great but note as you scroll down the pics, your hands get a little lower then ideal…mention this because you remarked on it earlier talking about your lesson. Riding is great to take your mind off other things, focusing on small, simple things like hands while just walking can be quite relaxing and very productive.

Your posture looks good, balanced and relaxed. Keep that up and keep your eyes and chin up too, they follow your hands down. Another simple thing to focus on while taking relaxing walk.

Thank you!

Honey really is a pretty horse. She looks relaxed and I’m glad to hear that she’s okay with the mounting block now. You look great, too!

Life really does have its ups and downs. My happy place has always been on the back of a good horse. I don’t know what I’d do without the sweet boy I have now. So I understand what you’re going through. It will get better. But in the meantime, feel free to hug your Honey.
