You would not normally see this kind of spectacle at this kind of exhibition. It is for showing and selling horses, not putting people off. Who would want to buy a traumatized horse ?
As I said before, there is animal abuse legislation in the state of Minas Gerais and this would probably fall under it.

If there is abuse legislation that probably makes what went on a crime, why in the world would people actually do it rather than say no? Makes no sense at all…even if MR asked to be shown the old ways.
The people being video’d were pretty intent on what they were doing. If they thought it was abuse, they didn’t give one inkling of that. There are also other ways to “show the old ways” without actually beating a horse.
Still don’t buy it.
Sure is a decent natured horse, he had plenty of opportunity to nail them with both barrels.

As for the abuse legislation … they might not have been aware of it. There is a lot of legislation in Brazil and it often is not enforced. So people dont even know about it or think it doesnt apply to them. But in this case it got media attention and got reported to the authorities …
Video is not good, but could be a lot worse. The cowboys are lucky, the horse is after all armed to the hilt with hooves and had plenty of opportunities to injure them that he/she didn’t take.
It’s hard to see the motivation behind ever using these kind of techniques, because I see nothing here that would actually develop a riding horse. It seems as though next time the horse would be prepared for the challenge and even more oppositional?

Regarding the little horse - he was defeated before the beginning of the video.
Pitiful. Even when he tried, he was wrong. He couldn’t do anything right for them.
Brazilian TV station Record has now made a thorough investigation and interviewed some of the key people involved in the video, including 2 of the cowboys and Monty Roberts.
They also verified the authenticity of the video and if any editing was done. There are also some close ups of the poor little horse who was bloodied and spent at the end.
It’s in Spanish. 
And it’s horrific.
