Horse Abuse in Ontario at the hands of Solstice Pecile

In this Tik Tok the narrator mentions that it is not the first time she has dragged a horse behind a vehicle.

Completely horrifying- I honestly couldnā€™t watch it. I hate that she is an endurance rider- literally every endurance rider I know is 100% about their horse and this just spits in the face of everything that AERC endurance and CTR stands for (FEI is a whole 'nother thing)

Equestrian Canada just released a statement as Solstice is an EC sport license member. https://www.equestrian.ca/news/nPiFrstcDSMJsKtX4/understanding-ec-s-horse-welfare-code-of

Does EC have a rule like USEF (Gr 702c) that anyone found guilty of animal / horse abuse in court of law is suspended from federation, regardless of where the abuse happened?

Yes, but I think someone has to bring it to their attention - I donā€™t think they have a system to automatically flag court cases

That B*tch is truly evil. I keep thinking about that video and how someone like her will probably go on being able to have animals and what a failure, complete failure that our society allows that. She should be banned for life.

Their Pony Club has kicked out one of its members, not sure if it is her or her stepfather.

She will be charged on Jan. 11.

There is a Change petition out to ban her from horses forever.

Where could we find that?

This whole thing is absolutely horrifying. As someone upthread said, I canā€™t unsee it. AND, it sounds like the stepfather was driving the truck. And this is someone who ran for PC President? Where are his charges?

In the podcast linked above, they talk about grey areas and pressure/release and what constitutes abuse, and they also discuss people who defended this woman.

I do think there are a lot of questionable practices that we(g) overlook, but which are far more benign (although also upsetting). But how one goes from upsetting and possibly abusive but sort of accepted practices to literally dragging a mare from a vehicle on a paved road and laughing at their injuries (and using a slur to characterize the horseā€™s behavior!) is beyond me. This woman literally mocked a horse spurting blood as though it was the horseā€™s fault.

I hope she and her stepfather are banned from contact with all animals. Also, the orgs and sponsors doing ā€œinternal reviewsā€ need to think again. Bad look. Outright ban/distance/sever ties. What is there to investigate?

Whoo hoo, 998! Well done folks.

for some reason I am getting an error when I try to sign. Any ideas?

This is what disappoints and frustrates me. There were other cases of not-so-good experiences out there that people didnā€™t want (or couldnā€™t) to report or bring to light.

Neither she nor her representative showed up for court yesterday. Coward. :rage:

You couldnā€™t find another source than Rebel News? :face_vomiting:

No wonder they couldnā€™t get in contact with the former owner of the horse who now has her horse back. I wouldnā€™t take a call or respond to an email from them either.
