Glad your mare is improving. Great news.
Wonderful news.
Great news, and so very happy for you and your lovely mare! Sending positive energy for continued healing.
Absolutely amazing! Looking forward to the “she’s home” post.
Hi. Sorry for the delay. I was talking with the vet about equioxx at the vaccine appt. She suggested we pull creatinine before we administer nsaids longer term to check kidney function.
Otherwise, I never would have pulled any blood for a vaccine appt. I think the test was like $48 so not much.
Like with our dogs and long term use of nsaids, it’s a good idea to pull for kidney health because banamine, bute, equioxx, none of this stuff is benign over time with how they filter it all out.
Happy Wednesday! Miss Skye is headed to layup later today!!!
Levels continue to fall. She of course had to get thrombophlebitis in both jugular veins because of the catheters. Cuz why not…
Overall very happy comfortable horse. The team has drawn hearts all over her neck wrap. I’m glad they love her too.
I will update again when she is home in a week or so.
Until then - go for a ride and have a great week!!!
Yay! Another step closer to coming home.
Happy News!!! You definitely need to let us know when she’s home so we can all have a celebratory drink together.
Yay! Good girl.
Awwww GREAT news!!!
So very happy for you and your lovely horse!!
Hoping for a good update!
Best update ever!!! She home and labs are all normal now. She a medical anomaly and just got presented at UCD. I got her this morning.
All I care about is she is alive and home.
Thank you for all the jingles and well wishes. You all helped us so much.
This is AMAZING! I hope UCD has been able to piece together any little bits that will help another horse down the road, since it’s not an if but when this happens to another horse.
Is BI involved in this side of things as well, or just on the financial side?
Blockquote
So ahh… no one will conclusively say it’s the vaccine so BI helped a little but it was a very large bill.
Short of taking blood. Giving a vaccine in clinic and retaking blood, not sure how to prove it.
What happened to her with her PCV values and needing to be bled is something that doesn’t actually really happen in horses. But here we are.
We have questions and hubby is going to make some follow up calls.
So glad she’s come home-and is looking great after such an ordeal!
If you’re able to, it would be great to hear anything else you find out over time.
What a beautiful mare, and her expression says everything. She looks happy to be home!
So glad she’s home! You must be so happy and relieved!
So happy that she is home and back to normal! Thank you for sharing this with us!
That’s one happy girl!! Make that 2 happy girls, including Mom.
