Dang, WHERE did I put those Nobel Prize nomination forms?
That’s a mature response …
Really? Thats cool. I had that once and would love to have had something to make the doctor unnecessary. Where can this stuff be gotten at?

You forgot the power of prayer.
You list sounds like those of the people in France that travel to Lourdes, pray in the sacred site and all those miraculous recoveries happen, practically the dead rises again, according to their telling.
Even easier than your remedies, they didn’t have to give them anything, just pray properly.
Of course, if nothing happens, you didn’t pray right.

Never discount that Bluey, That’s probably the best thing anybody could do.

George[/QUOTE] One can get it at any Health Food Store. Or, online from many different pharmacies and Homeopathic sites.
And just FYI … some “trivia” about Homeopathy:
–All Hom. remedies now regulated by the Food & Drug Administration
–In 1938 - Homeopathic Pharmacopea of the US written into law
–Most remedies available without prescription - OTC
–Laws of Homeopathic Practice vary state to state.
–ALL states allow home and veterinary use without reserve
–“Homeopathy cures a larger percentage of cases than any other method of treatment.” --Mahatma Gandhi
–Mother Theresa added Hom. care to mission services and opened Hom. dispensary in Calcutta in 1950
–over 3 million american use Homeopathy today.
–Almost every one of 20,000 pharmacies in Germany stocks Hom. remedies.
–80% of recent graduates from Med school in Britian further their training in Homeopathic Medicine
–In 3 yr. study on over 40 farms in Westfalia, Germany, antibiotic use decreased from 90% to 26%
–60% of all cases of Hom. treatments are successful as stand-alone treatments.
I guess it’s a downer to point out that the Holy See has a licensed medical doctor present at Lourdes, too.
Just in case the Madonna is… unavailable. :uhoh:
And I can come up with just as many scientific studies that show these DON’T work. Your point is?

I will gladly be an advocate of you when you can show me that what you do significantly improves the quality of life in horses. I have seen some (via my own experiences in human Eastern medicine and philosophies) however, I am still skeptical about the case you present here pertaining to horses.

IF this stuff doesn’t work, Why do the vets want to take control so badly?
As an actual case study for Lyme Disease myself…I would strongly suggest to those who have/might have the disease that a low or negative test means next to nothing. (standard test) And to please do as the doctor orders in treatment. The CT Center For Disease Control also uses homeopathic treatments along with modern medicine and so far with their over decade long testing of all types of treatments they’re still using Doxy.
I’ve have Lyme 5 times so far. 5 separate and distinct times…hence being a walking case study. Lyme disease improperly treated and/or treated by those without a strong understanding of the various test and test result types can still wreak havoc on a body. To the point of organ failure.
Lyme is not a disease to blithely recommend treating only homeopathic on an online BB. If a person reading this decides these are actual remedies with a 100% success rate…and decides to go that way instead of seeing a doctor (maybe they don’t have insurance) you could be condemning the person to future organ failure and death.
Please…no human medical advice online.
Because if it doesn’t work - the horse still suffers; and continues to suffer if the owner persists in treatment that doesn’t work but conforms to their particular world view.
The welfare of the HORSE is paramount. Not human ego.
To protect the public from quacks, charlatans and snake oil salesmen.
I saw that Ohio State did an aroma therapy study. Guess what, their study shows that it improves your mood but that’s about it. At least in humans.
There is an outstanding offer of a L.1,000,000 grant to anyone/any company who can prove the effectiveness of homeopathic medicines in a double-blind study. Many have tried. ALL have FAILED. The offer is still there and the company WANTS to be able to prove it true! They want to give away close to two million dollars!
No one has been able to do it. To me, that says a LOT about the power of a person’s ability to heal themselves. Unfortunately, I don’t think that applies to horses.
If you or your horse(s) have or may have Lyme Dx, don’t mess around - go see a Lyme knowledgeable doctor/vet IMMEDIATELY. It’s very, very serious.
That is not the responsibility nor purview of vets. There are consumer and governmnet organizations for that.
To protect the public from quacks, charlatans and snake oil salesmen.
The quacks, et all, don’t want any control, all they want is to take you money. The only unfortunate thing is the horse owners that peddle some of this manure because their friend told them it was good, who’s aunt told them it was good, who overheard it while eavesdropping on two people in a feed store (who happened to be talking about cows, but that doesn’t matter cows are similar to horses)
Actually, it is.
Though the government is the entity that would regulate a field, the development of such regulation/oversight (whatever you want to call it) is done in consultation with recognized professionals/experts in the field.
In the case of veterinary medicine, the professionals that would participate would be… drumroll please… veterinarians. Those professionals are the recognized experts in the care of domestic animals.
If you’d like to be included in the development of such oversight - you must sit at the same table and participate.

I have already stated that most alternative practioners want to work with vet or will recommend that that a vet check out a situation. The horse doesn’t suffer. They usually come out better because the owner is trying to find the best answer for the horse.
IF ALTERNATIVE TREATMENTS HAVE NO VALUE… THEN WHY ARE THEY BEING TAUGHT IN THE EUROPEAN MEDICAL SHCOOLS …AND IF YOU SAY IT IS NOT SO THEN YOU NEED TO LOOK AGAIN AT MEDICAL PRACTICES AROUND THE WORLD TO SEE WHAT IS OR IS NOT BEING CURED AND HOW. OBVIOUSLY I DON’T JUST STAY IN THE US.
And I’ve already stated that the reason your ability to make a living is in jeopardy is because there are charlatans out there bilking the public. If alternative practitioners want to continue, they’ll need to work WITH the veterinary community to iron out difficulties, weed out bad apples, and obtain acceptance. Veterinarians are not your enemy. Treating them as some sort of threat isn’t going to get you anywhere.
It would also be very nice if a lot of these “therapies” were subjected to scientific scrutiny. Every other medicine and therapy is - for humans and animals. No exception should be made for alternative medicine.
My goodness what a defensive crew. We all know where defensiveness is derived, don’t we?
Ok … well, there are those who choose alternative and complementaries (complementary, btw, means just that … to COMPLEMENT allopathic medicine); there are those who choose to use nothing but Western Medicine and Drugs; there are those who choose to use prayer (Christian Scientists) and so on and so forth. The point in this discussion is people have the RIGHT to make choices for themselves and for their pets. When it comes down to someone absolutely causing greater HARM to an animal or putting the animal in direct fatal danger then yes, … someone should be able to step in. That’s why many states have declared animal abuse to be a FELONY. Case in point is a discussion on equine.com about a case coming up in court on March 11th. A horse has been in a state of dire need, medically, for months and finally a decision will be rendered, hopefully on the 11th, by the court. So there are proper venues in place, already, to see that those whom blatantly take part in animal abuse are held accountable for their decisions.
The AVMA proposal for COMPLETE CONTROL is out of line and realistically, impossible to uphold. It takes away the RIGHTS of the person to make his or her own decisions about how to have an animal treated. That’s the bottom line. Are we all to be considered absolutel imbeciles, unable to make an EDUCATED and researched decision? Are we our brothers’ keepers? Do we have the right to tell our neighbor don’t use this or that or so and so? (within reason, of course … not going to allow a neighbor to feed antifreeze or arsenic to his/her pet if its known. Quite obviously that comes under a clear cut animal abuse situation.)
You who uphold the “scientific” facts have the right to do so. Those who uphold the beliefs that there is more to “life” than “scientific facts” have the right to that. There is no wrong or right “beliefs” or “feelings”. Bottom line, if it works, it works. If it doesn’t, it doesn’t. You or I or anyone else has no right to tell someone else NOT to go to a Dr. or Vet and visa versa … you or I or anyone else has no right to tell someone else NOT to see a Chiropractor, Aromatherapist, Homeopathic, Herbalist or any of the other A/C practitioners. And we all have the RIGHT to learn and educate ourselves on what is best for our particular situations. That’s a basic human right. I’m sure there will be someone who will disagree but hey … that’s your right!
