Horse Trailer Reviews
I have a 2004 Collin Arndt 2 horse, straight load. I got it a year ago. I am new to the trailer scene and this trailer has been beddy, beddy goodt to me. Very easy to pull, in fact, sometimes I forget it is back there. I love it.
From what I have read, Colin Arndt is no longer making trailers anymore.

I have a 2006 (??? I think) Trail-Et New Yorker. Its a great trailer, really love it.

I recently sold my '94 Trail-ET and upgraded to a 2000 Hawk. I love both trailers. Both are 2h bumper pulls with dressing rooms. I wouldn’t own any other brands.

I have to give a big thumbs UP to Shadow Trailers. I bought one last year that I love love love. It’s a 2+1 with living quarters. It also has a tack room on the outside just in front of the box stall. It has lots of air flow, insulated walls & ceiling, cam latches. Just super horse friendly. I also love the living quarters. Only time I’ve stayed in it was at the NAJYR Champs in KY. It poured every afternoon with high winds many days. No leaks anywhere in the entire trailer.
I have a friend who has pulled her Shadow 2+1 all over the country for the past 4 years & had no problems with it. She’s used it enough to win USEF/USDF HOY awards every year & that takes a lot of hauling. We are both very happy with our trailers & having the factory in FL is nice for us in case we do have problems.

In another thread Im looking for 1st trailer Ive found a Gore 1994 model. I know people like Gore, is there anything bad about this year? should I look for anything wrong when I go look?

Bump

I have a 2 horse bumper-pull German Bockmann trailer- LOVE it! Much better design than Brenderup IMO. Laminated wood fully fibreglassed, solid sealed wood floor, fibreglass roof. Has it’s own suspension so very smooth and quiet ride (nothing to rattle), surge brakes so not dependent on electrics. Longer ramp so more horse-friendly to load. German engineering, well balanced with horse’s weight over the axles, very aerodynamic- and I can pull it with a v6 engine! Very few people in Europe have trucks- this is the standard type of trailer there. Price is comparable with mid-priced aluminum NA trailers. There is an aluminum Bockmann available as well. Maple Lane Trailers in Ontario.

Based on numerous great reviews from COTH as well as other sites, last year I purchased a new 4 Star 2 horse BP. It is probably one of the nicest designed and built trailers I have ever seen and pulls like a dream. It weighs only 3500 pounds and I tow locally with an SUV.

I have been drooling over Fautras (sp)? and looking at the Bockmans. So, what are you pulling with?

In my fantasy (probably only place I will have a trailer) I have a Cayenne.

I LOVE my 2009 Cotner Squire! Super basic 2H straight load with a ramp (pony just doesn’t DO step-ups), no dressing room, but it’s pretty perfect. I bought it used for a sinfully low price, and at 4 years old it looks like it rolled off the lot yesterday. It’s aluminum, pulls great, very light and open inside so the horses like it. The floorboards are also treated so that they literally repel moisture, which makes it super durable. Love that thing!

Here it is all hitched up to the truck: https://sphotos-a.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-prn1/17415_610391628921_2064405277_n.jpg

I have been very happy with my 2001 2h straight load Sundowner. It is from the years that had problems, but so far, so good. Sundowner replaced the floor at no cost about 6 years ago. Horses who are poor loaders walk right in. It is light and spacious.

Was so happy to find all the good advice on this thread, even though it goes back a ways. Does anyone here have an opinion about the Brenderup trailers? Found a 1987 Royal 2 horse model bumper pull model for sale, but it looks unlike any trailer I’ve ever seen. Thanks for any feedback!

LOVE the 4Stars!

Anyone else have experience with EquiSpirit other than ChocoMare? I really like the 2H EquiBreeze, mainly because I live in the deep south and need as much ventilation as possible. Probably won’t get a trailer till early next year since I bought the truck this year, but any help is greatly appreciated!

LOVE the 4Stars!
Thanks so much, RubyTuesday! I’ve waited all my life to get a horse, and now am facing the daunting task of getting the best equipment I can on my limited funds. I’m sure my Explorer can’t safely pull a trailer, so will probably look for an older Suburban 2500 since trucks are so popular now (and therefore out of my price range). Apparently that style Suburban is a real work horse (no pun intended), but I’d still like to find a lighter trailer that is well built and as problem/maintenance-free as possible. I’ll be buying a used model of something (unless I win the lottery, please, Lord), so will only get one shot at buying my “lifetime” trailer. (I’m not a spring chicken any longer, sadly. LOL) I’ll keep my eyes peeled for a 4-Star, Adams, Trail-et, or Gore. Perhaps I should have just asked what brand/year/style NOT to buy?? I’ll definitely follow the tips I’ve read in other posts and jump around in it (to check any rattling) and also take a flashlight to examine the welded seams. I’ll also see if I can take one of my trailer-owning friends with me, too. A second set of experienced eyes is always a plus. I’m a widow and only have one horse, but figure I should buy a 2 horse model ~ not only for ease of resale(?), but also so I can trailer a friend’s horse, too. Anyway, thanks again for your response and the link to your trailer. It surely is gorgeous!

Eby all the way…they last forever.

So I thought I would put in a good word for the Homesteader Trailer. I bought one new in April and LOVE it. I have had no paint or rust issues with my trailer. It is HUGE! I also haul it with my Ford Expedition with no problems.

I have a 17 hand TB that is build more like a WB and it makes HIM look small. There is more storage space in the tack room then I have ever seen in a trailer. In July I moved my two horses, two large trunks, 3 25 gallon tubs and 1 45 gallon tub, tack, small random boxes and STILL had room in my tack room.

The floors are really nice and easy to clean. It hauls beautifully and have found for the Gore I use to pull that needed anti-sway bars this doesn’t need it at all. It is much lighter than the gore and bigger.

I have gotten countless compliments on my trailer and asked where I got it. For the price it was I couldn’t go wrong!

Below are some pics of it.

No direct experience with the trailer, but a friend of mine has a formerly-difficult-to-load mare and I see them in their Equi-Breeze at trail rides and things all the time. My friend loves it, and she’s had it for a couple of years now. Still looks great.

I have had direct experience with Tom Scheve, who is one of the nicest most helpful people I’ve ever had the pleasure of dealing with. He answered all my questions and I really wish I could have ordered an Equi-Breeze from him. It was just a little out of my price range. But if money had not been a concern, I’d have had one!

I’ve had 2 Bisons.
While I didn’t love my 2001 3 horse slant for various reasons, I do LOVE my tiny 1996 2 horse. It’s a great little steel trailer. About 3,500#, 7ft tall, tiny area for tack. It’s not fancy, but it’s spacious inside for such a small trailer.

I love my merhow. We looked at 4 stars but truthfully the merhow seemed better made all around IMO.
