Horseware Competition Jacket in Pomegranate - yea or nay (neigh?)

I just saw this, and I love the color. (for context my horse is seal brown - dark, but with golden tones on his muzzle and flanks)

What do you think in the dressage ring? Too light, too red, too different?
Has anyone seen it in person - how true is the color in the photos?

Mega bonus points for anyone that can post a photo of their own!

ETA: I am only showing locally - mostly schooling shows, which this would be fine for, but possibly a rated dressage or working equitation show. No hunters or jumpers.

All I can say is-want!

Nice color! I expect it’s OK for dressage but h/j has rules or tradition?? about no red jackets because they are associated with being a full member of a real hunt, or else riding for Canada

Could wear in a jumper class, hunter would be out.

I have the Berry and am buying the pomegranate! I love hem! I have two yellow ponies though…

When you get the pomegranate one, will you please, please please post a picture of the two of them together? With or without the yellow ponies

I saw a shadbelly in this color at a show. I love the color, but NOT for showing. Just MHO (and very OLD HO).

Sure. The pomegranate is on backorder but when it’s in I’ll post one. Yellow ponies are very dirty from winter so they’ll be absent!

It is a beautiful color, and I can see it in the jumpers for sure… but I personally don’t like that much of a statement in dressage (I grew up with muted colors and prefer those for dressage) and it isn’t allowed in hunters. I’m curious to know how bright it is in person versus in the picture shown here. A deep maroon/dark dark cherry color could be lovely and not too over the top (for me personally, I know that some people love standing out and that is just not my personality).

I was eyeing up the Pomegranate too! I wasn’t sure how it would look on me…afraid it would be too boxy.

So I ended up getting this Ego7 jacket on Sunday: http://www.ego7.it/portfolio/elegance-cl/?lang=en

I tried it on 2 weeks ago and couldn’t commit to it. Lo and behold, it was still there on Sunday and I figured it was meant to be. The burgundy is so pretty and will look stunning on my dark bay mare at my show next weekend!

That is gorgeous! But a bit above my budget, currently. Best of luck next week!

Thanks! Yeah, I didn’t plan on spending that much on a jacket. But I’ll only live once so why not!

eh, I’m already riding a yellow pony, the funeral outfit can be saved for another day. Both colors read pretty dark in person.

I have a friend that showed 3rd/4th level in a burgundy coat she bought at Goodwill and had positive remarks on her turnout, and it was a color that looked good on her horse.

and then there is this Alessandro Albanese motion lite jacket in “Primitova”

Not the feedback you asked for, but I have this coat (in simple black). The cut, fit, price point and washable-ness tick all my boxes. I love it. Except…it is a little bit like riding in a plastic bag. It just doesn’t breathe, probably due to the water resistant feature. But for the money I spent on it, I look sharp.

But I live and show in humid NC, maybe not an issue for you.

I’ve seen people show in a similar color, but much more expensive jacket - LOVE the color, it is gorgeous. I’ve shown in purple, and so far, no one has kicked me out of the ring  I am so glad to see some attractive colors starting to show up - black is so blah…

If you get a chance, do go check out the jacket in person, as Displaced Yankee says, the jackets are not very breathable. I tried a blue one on at a horse show a while back, and didn’t like that feeling, although the cut and fit were quite nice for the price.

I think it looks pretty, yea from me!

Thank you and also @MysticOakRanch for the additional feedback. I think I will try to get my hands on one of these - I think I can at least find black and navy locally and see how they fit and feel. The store might even be able to order me the pomegranate if I like the jackets otherwise, although then if I don’t like the color IRL, I might be stuck.

I never really noticed them being hot because I don’t usually put my coat on until the last 5 or so minutes before going in for my test, and it comes off as soon as I get off. I’m also in New England and am rarely roasting to death here.
