How about a matchy matchy fashion show thread?

I’ll play. This is from last summer. I love that EVERYthing looks smashing on a black horse. Oh, and i swore up and down for years i’d never dress any horse of mine in pink… then I got a black mare. Well… :joy: :woman_shrugging:

Well, I feel like an idiot because at first I thought that was a blinged-out belt. Guess I’ve been showing western too much.

But yes, it’s lovely. The whole outfit is just yummy!

LOL, I would probably ruin my saddle on the dismount with a belt like that! I did discover the hard way that it’s easy to get an armpit stuck to the browband when wearing a sunshirt with the mesh panels. That is bad enough. I just ordered some nubuck leather polo boots in anthracite (very dark gray) so I’m hoping they’ll complement the pad and browband.

For the sage lovers, I think someone needs these boots!

I can hardly match my socks, but what are some favorite color combos on chestnuts?

I have the Oak from Lemieux that I’ve liked to show in and I have a sage green as well and been wearing that with a grey jacket, but looking for some other ideas or favorite colors for those with the red dragons out there.

What color of chestnut though? There are lots of photos of chestnuts at the beginning of this thread. My more orange/liver undertone mare can wear a lot more colors than my very red mare. Of course navy and hunter are classic for any color of chestnut.

Here she is! I did a black pad/navy jacket the other year and I thought it was nice. I am just enjoying not always having white pads and having to keep them clean since it always seems I show in mud 95% of the time.

It can be tricky to match undertones, but I love copper/rust on chestnuts.

Or a more subtle taupe can look gorgeous too.

For the redder undertones, I don’t think you’ll ever go wrong with navy, or even a marine/spruce if you want to spice it up a bit!

I absolutely love the Marine. That’s what I was wondering if I could pull off.

I also saw someone with a very pale lavender. Purple is my favorite color, but I have always thought purple/lavender and red was a no-go, but makes me wonder…

Once again, I can’t match, so I love seeing more potential options out there with possibilities that people pull off that I just love.

I think browns and taupes look good on any type of chestnut.

Lavenders look good on the more liver chestnuts and marines/teals on the redder ones.

Imo.

I think it depends on the undertones! some lavenders have pink-ish undertones, while others go more blue. I’d probably look for a bluer one if it were me, but you might find one that looks good!

edit to add:

Both would probably be considered “lavender”, but I think if you cover up one side or the other to compare to the brown, the one on the left (blue undertones) looks nicer than the one on the right (pink/red undertones).

@Mander that brown on brown is STUNNING. Any idea what boots those are?

I have been thinking about buying boots… I want oxblood as a color but it is surprisingly hard to find the right color scheme for what I want!

I wish I knew! It’s a very elegant look to be sure. You might be able to find something close and then polish it with oxblood/burgundy shoe polish to get it the rest of the way there.

Thank you so much for the example. That makes so much sense. There’s hope for me yet.

I love a bright blue on a chestnut. Browns are always nice, and rust colors.

My orangey and white pinto pony has a lavender Le Meiux pad and it looks pretty nice on him. I have quite a bit of smokey blue things (helmet, gloves, breeches) so I’d love an Ice Blue Le Meiux pad but need a small size, which is hard to find. Brown tack, black boots. A lot of my clothes coordinate with the pad so somehow it all looks well put together. I figure if I ride like crap, at least I look good on him.

I generally stick with shades of green (emerald/sage/hunter) on my chestnut, but lately have been venturing into the teal/blue range, and those also look stunning.

Obviously our jumping tack, but this is a sage pad with the matching grey/sage boots the other day.

I LIKE red and purple together. Redheads (gingers) wear lavender SO WELLLLL

indulge me a minute…but here is a bracelet i crafted in pure red and pure lavender. I felt that if i repeated it often enough it just might work, and it did (i think)

Oh, I hope they still have them in that color. I bought that color earlier this year in another brand, and then the first time I rode in them I realized they have zero stick. So I’m mostly back to wearing my white pipers
