Now with the warm weather, I don’t have pockets adequate to carry iPhone. Any options? Is there a belt that works well?
My daughter has a neoprene iPhone holder with elastic that she can wear on her arm and also one that can attach with a clip to her saddle. She only does that when she goes on a long hack with another rider just in case of emergency. She got hers at Dover I think. HTH.
Stuffed in my bra. But I have boobs of an, ummm, adequately-sized nature to make that possible.
I have used the little neoprene holders too, that strap around your leg/arm. The issue with those is that the generic ones sometimes do not fit the larger modern smartphones. Make sure you test before purchase, if not buying one made specifically for your phone.
In my bra.
I use a SPIBelt with the water proof accessory (wonderful at protecting my phone from sweat in the summer as well as rain). I have the regular size, which works well if I only need to put my iPhone in there (with Otterbox case). However, I recommend the larger size if you also need to carry keys. Luckily, I can usually just take my lock pad off the truck keys and stuff that in there, but I can’t fit a full set of keys and my phone if needed.
I’ve been using mine a year now and the SPIbelt itself still looks brand new. The water proof bag is pretty worn and needs to be replaced, though, but held up well for using it 4-5 times per week for riding plus for hiking and running.
I also have one of the clip on cell phone carriers that was on TOTD last week. It is really pretty, fits my phone well, and is easier to get my phone in and out of… but I hate it banging around on me or my horse if we’re doing any trot or canter work. That one is better for a leisurely trail ride where I want to take my phone out to take pictures a lot type of thing.
Neoprene arm holster in summer. Pocket of my parka in winter. Both, close enough so my headphones reach. I ride alone and like the tunes; I use one earbud so I can hear outside noises just fine.
Second the spibelt! I love mine Best thing is it fits below my XC vest so I always have my phone on me and I’m not uncomfortable!
I have one of those armband cell phone holders. Got it in the running/sports section at Walmart
It depends. If I’m trail riding I have a fishing vest that I keep all my goodies in. Snacks, my phone, compass, anything that if I was separated from my mount I would want with me and not him.
In the arena I do one of two things, Stick it in the side of my half chaps or I hook my cell phone case to a D-ring in front.
I know hip/fanny packs are way out of fashion but I use one to hold my larger Samsung phone when I go out on the trail. I wear it in the front so I have easy access. It’s a small pack just a tad bigger than the spibelt.
I bought the Otterbox for my Samsung Galaxy S4 that has a belt clip that it fits in.
Most of my breeches have pockets. Otherwise http://www.amphipod.com/products/holders/lock-on-micropacks/micropack-smartview. Might have to figure out if it fits your phone, but doesn’t require a belt and can clip to various things (waistband, top of boots/half chaps, edge of saddle pad)
I tried the Ottorbox Defender clip thing…phone went FLYING off my half chaps. I don’t wear a belt.
Since I only ride in the arena, I leave it on the top of the mounting block or on top of a jump standard. I tried the bra thing, but am not well-endowed AND I sweat a ton AND the thing tries to slither out of the bottom of my bra at the trot.
I have the otter with a clip on attachment and it does NOT hold the phone on when I am galloping or jumping. I sometimes put the phone in my bra but if I sweat profusely, it can ruin the phone. I lost a blackberry that way a couple of years ago. I’ve used the arm attachment in the distant past but find that it is either uncomfortable because its too tight, or it slips down my arm. I also tried a leg belt and had similar problems. So a waist belt seems the way to go.,
The SPI belt looks promising. Does the iPhone with otter case fit inside the belt? That could work well.
Thanks for all the suggestions! Its all very helpful. I ride alone and need to be able to make calls if something happens, plus I am a bit of a chatter if I am riding out.

Since I don’t trust a clip on (it can come off), I am thinking something that slides onto a belt may work. Such as http://http://www.amphipod.com/products/holders/music/electronics/beltpod-smartview
What do you all think?
Black Knight makes a wristlet that loops onto your belt. I love it and everyone at my barn wears one. There’s two sizes: the smaller one fits an iPhone 5 with a thin case (so not an otterbox) and a larger size.
It has two pockets, so I stick my phone in the large, main compartment, and carry cash to pay my coach in the smaller one. It comes with a little leather strap, so when you’re not at the barn you can carry it like a wristlet. They comes in so many fun colours too.
http://www.bkcompetition.com/monarch.html you can see them at the bottom of the page there. A bunch of tack shops here in Ontario carry them – I’d link to their facebook pages since they have better pictures and pricing info but I’m at work.
I rarely take mine, but when we go out on trails I just use my belt clip. I have an Otterbox Defender for my iPhone, and it comes with a belt clip.

I am super paranoid so I’m just picturing myself falling off at the opposite end of the ring and just lying there, staring at my phone on the jump standard at the other end, unable to drag my broken body that distance, attempting to get my mouthy baby TB to fetch the phone like a dog.
^^^^me too.

Yep! My iPhone is in an Otterbox Defender case and fits in the basic SPIbelt. Like I said, though, if I wanted to add a full set of keys or anything else I think the larger pocket one would be better.
