If you wear a regular bra plus a sports bra you can just put the phone in between the two
Yup! Spibelt fits with the thick otterbox case I actually managed to fit my iphone 5 + otterbox AND my friend’s iphone (regular case) but at that point it got bouncy and there was no way to remove one phone without upending the contents.
A Runner’s armband around the leg
I used a runner’s arm band LIKE THIS, and strap it around the top of my boot, just below my knee.
I like carrying it here for many reasons - first, its an area I am not likely to fall on. I don’t fall that often, but when I do, shoulder / hips are likely to take the brunt of it. My step mom fell with her phone in a waist holder, and really bruised / injured her hip area.
Its an easy area to access, and even if one of my arms were injured, its in a place I can reach easily.
It doesn’t flop, bounce or move in any way on my leg, and I can take the phone out and put it back with one hand - allowing me to keep one on the reins.
All but one of my britches have pockets comfortably deep enough for my phone. I also ride in jeans a lot, so I just shove it in my back pocket (some of my britches have back pockets, too). My phone is in a Lifeproof case, so I’m pretty comfortable with the idea of it popping out while I ride…I just can’t leave it in Toby’s reach (it’s Lifeproof, but not Toby proof).
i’m not a fan arm straps and belt clips. They would both drive me up the wall.
I tried to put it in my sports bra once…slipped through the gap at the breastbone. I was in the middle of doing a test for practice and my shirt was tucked in, so I figured it would be fine until I finished my run through.
Next thing I knew, it had wriggled into my pants and then was just north of my crotch area! Now THAT was uncomfortable…
I strongly discourage people from putting anything on their belt when riding. If you want to peruse PubMed there’s even some papers on it. Reason being, you’re going to land on it and that puts a hard object near your kidneys, hips, spine, and other organs.
I wear mine in a little neoprene phone case that I velcro around my calf just below the knee. The neoprene doesn’t rub the saddle and on an extremity, it greatly reduces risk of the phone contributing to injury (and it’s just a little flip phone). I got it free for volunteering, but there are plenty of options sold as armbands as well.

That’s the wrong spot! At least for me, what works best is to tuck it on the outside, between bra and boob. Should still be within the underwire, but that’s a pretty tight spot on most bras so it doesn’t wiggle. Adjust as needed so that it doesn’t jab you in the armpit.
I have a life proof case with a life proof belt clip!!! Love it
I second the fanny pack. It’s comfortable, inexpensive, and holds a lot more than just my cellphone!
Belt clip case or in a vest pocket. Sometimes if my breech pockets are big enough, but that usually bugs me. The only bad thing about the belt clip is that sometimes I drag it off on my saddle when I am dismounting.
Typically down my half chaps…obviously on the side NOT on the horse;)
This time of year…I just wear a vest and put in my pocket.
I like Armpocket…sizes to fit even the largest smartphones, and I bought the large size strap which will fit on my arm if I snug it all the way down but will also fit around the top of my calf, which is awesome. I used it all the time when I was an intern and on call - never lost it, even galloping around a couple hundred acres of cow pasture in Kansas.
I used to ride with a fanny pack facing front, but switched to a velco holder that I attach behind my leg after reading about how the phone can shatter and seriously injure the rider if it is being carried near vital organs. The article said behind the leg or on the arm is the safest place.

This is what we all use. Lots of friends love it, several riders have tried and endorsed it and it is an awesome product! My husband also has one that he uses for golf! Denny Emerson posted an endorsement on his farm page. This is my friend’s product, but I would recommend it even if I didn’t have a connection. You will truly forget you are wearing it, it is water resistant and it does not move!
I’ve had free time today (odd), and di lots of research. I ordered the SPIBelt off of Amazon so if I don’t like it, I can send it back. We shall see…
Awesome ideas here and there is no way I could’ve done all of this comparison shopping without this group.
I’m confused by those of you who ride with the phone in your bra. How do you not ruin your phones with sweat? When I’m working a bunch of horses I’ve found that my phone gets wet/misty when it’s in a breast pocket or even at the top of my arm. I can’t imagine how it would look if I stuck it in my bra…and I don’t think I sweat much more than an average person. Though I am not well endowed, so maybe there’s a shielding property real boobs provide that I’m not aware of (and wish I was!)
Most of my breeches have pockets that I use for my phone, and I also have a couple of arm bands - one I use around my arm and the other I use around the top of my boot. I used to aim to keep my phone up high so I could have ear buds in, but now I just play my music on speakerphone and I can hear it fine from pretty much any spot I put it (pocket, arm band, etc.).
I have a phone case with a little strap with a clip at the end of it. It’s meant to be clipped to the saddle but I’m afraid the horse will dump me, I’ll be too injured to go after him, won’t be able to get to the phone… So I clip it to one of my front belt loops and let it rest against my thigh. Not so great for galloping out though, gets caught under my leg. I suppose it would also be bad for jumping, but I never jump alone.

Thanks for posting about the band size. I am looking to use a case on my leg, too, so that is helpful!
The SPIbelt is cool and I almost bought one because it can hold so much stuff, but I wanted to be able to see my phone’s face while I rode (for the clock etc.), so I went with a TuneBelt instead. My iPhone 5 wears an OtterBox Defender, and the TuneBelt fits very nicely around it. There’s a tiny little pocket in the back of the TuneBelt for a key or check, etc.

I use the armband too. I run with it on my arm, sometimes put on my leg for riding. I don’t understand clipping the phone to the horse though–isn’t the point to be able to use it after you fall and your horse has possibly run off?
