How Do You Choose a Show Name?
Couture TB - LOVE that you named a horse after a song from Repo! It’s actually one of my favourite movies/musicals :stuck_out_tongue:

Teddybear Picninc is winning out among my friends, followed closely by someone’s suggestion of “Bear With Me” (the double entendre of it makes me split a gut laughing, and the person who suggested it didn’t even think of it, haha), Java Bean Supreme, and I’m a Little Teapot.

DMK - yay music names! A friend had a mare named Carmina, and she showed under Carmina Burana. Another friend events her mare as Wish You Were Here and their saddle pad for cross country has the Pink Floyd logo on it

Java says thank you for the compliments. They made him feel better after today’s CTJ moment in the ring :P
OMG! Another Repo fan!!! I showed another TB I named Devil’s Carnival which is by the same people. And if you haven’t seen it yet you need to!!

As bad as this is I wanted to name my one mare Gentern as she is always leaving marks on the other horses…LOL

my recently acquired hunter (stole him from hubby, LOL) new show name is Whodathunkit

because when we took him off the track he was injured and we only took him because my husband thought he was cute and wanted a trail horse. 18 months later horsey went trotting off across the field and I said “ut oh” you just lost your horse.

trainer at my barn, when she looked at him at the track, turned him down as a prospect for me as a hunter. two other horses were chosen at that time, for other clients. One of those tragically had to be put down, the other is somewhat less than quiet, mine is going oh so prettily, and when talking about mine, we kept saying “Whodathunkit??”

it’s cheesey, but I’ll take it!

I love Constant Comment and Tea time!

I name horses with something that means something to me. I grew up on the water, and I think salt water runs in my veins so my first horse was High Tide. My next ones will be either Maritime or Tradewind.

My current horse is Moscato because he came to me with it and had a show record. I don’t mind it-its a bit classy for his goofy, quirky self (though he’s quite fancy Ive the jumps so maybe it suits him If you don’t know him) but thats ok since we don’t show much anymore. Only problem is some of my friends think I love Moscato wine but I HATE it. It’s gotten better but when I first got him I had a Christmas party and ended up with 5 bottles of that crap hahah.

I’ll be Mother

“Bear With Me” is sweet!!!

My lunky perchX’s show name is Little Miss Sunshine, after Abigail Breslin’s character. She didn’t fit in with the other beauty pageant contestants and didn’t care – just like my carthorse eventer :).

MY nickname (at least before my first cup of coffee in the morning) is Little Miss Sunshine, due to my pleasant cough demeanor when I wake up.

My horses have one name and only one name. They’re also only one word and no more than two syllables. I will never understand the whole barn name, registered name, show name garbage.

Well, thanks for playing then.

LOL! I was going to suggest “Earl Bay” But yours is better.

Shoot, even people get nicknames. :). And let’s face it, most of us don’t choose the registered name since we buy older horses. There are some craptastic multi-syllabic, multi-word names already out there. Wouldn’t you then change the name?

I definitely mentioned that one to a few people and nearly got my head chewed off for even thinking it! haha!
