How far North are the barn swallows?

My scouts showed up last week. Waiting for the crew to get here! I am south of Boston

Arrived yesterday in the Hudson Valley. Late for them this year

Just saw one in Grand Haven Michigan!

Saw my first one this morning. I heard the chattering - one wee swallow sounded like 10 sitting on the hydro wire.

I can’t wait until they’re all swooping in the air.

I’m in MA as well. To me it seemed to take a bit longer for the rest of the crew to show up. They were pretty busy the last two days (finally a break in the weather for the poor guys) and I’m really hoping a pair will nest in my stall this year!

Our first ones appeared mid-April (SE WI). We now have a goodly flock arguing over the who got the best nesting spots in the barns,

They keep trying to build in my garage along with the barn. I say good morning to the girls at 5 a.m. as they sit on the railing…and remind them that the garage is off limits!

We have so many swallows this year! We’ve lived here to 10 years and until now it’s been 2 that come back, and then their babies by the end of the year. But daily I’m seeing a flock of 10 or 20 and it is so heartening.
