How is this legal? 4 y/o showing 4th level

Thanks for continuing to keep this thread at the top of the dressage forum, I appreciate it! :smirk:

So the goal was stirring the pot, not notifying the authorities. Got it :+1:

I notified the authorities before I posted this, but hadn’t gotten a response. Now since the OP, I did get a response that I’m satisfied with. But as this is a public forum, clearly people can and have continued to comment on it. I am also perfectly fine with buyer beware posts about sketchy/dishonest sellers :woman_shrugging: I’ve certainly seen plenty in my time reading CoTH.

The only one stirring the pot here seems to be you. Everyone else is discussing the topic at hand.

As Mander said 6 days ago

All I have done is respond to existing posts since usef contacted me. I have not gone back to this person’s PUBLIC page, I have not shared any further information, I am satisfied that hopefully usef will impose sanctions on someone willfully flouting the rules. But when people post misinformation or posts that I think merit a response, I do. Like BigMama said, you’re the only one stirring the pot with some imaginary narrative you’re ascribing to a total stranger, which says far more about you than it does me.

Again, ok boss.

I don’t know either of you and I don’t know the OP. You both seem to agree that there is “righteous anger”, spite? or some other ulterior motive on the part of the OP? I don’t see it.

Most people (that I know) are not tolerant of people who break the rules.
Especially not tolerant of people who backtrack on sale advertisements when caught breaking rules that anyone attempting to sell a 40K Dressage horse should have been aware of.
When people selling horses hide their actions after they are called out, it is a big deal.

It’s time that old horse trader excuses, the “oh, well it happens, nudge nudge wink wink” attitude is no longer acceptable.

There are good honest people who sell horses. However we all know the difference between the behavior of educated and responsible sellers and those that either can’t be bothered to learn the rules of the sport (their professed area of training expertise) or those who knowingly break the rules.

I suppose that someone advertising a 4year old 4th level Dressage horse for 40K could just be ignorant, but that seems like a stretch to me.

The acceptance, or pooh poohing, of this sort of rule breaking and/or dishonesty in horse sales has, and will continue to have, a negative impact on the future of horse sport.

There is absolutely no excuse for not knowing the rules. This extends to the show secretary and the TD.

Every show entry I ever made asked for age of horse.

If the entry was falsified then this issue extends beyond the horse himself.

Judges are not usually give stats on horses. It is not their job to police this.

I may be able to help. Do you know what language it was written in?

To be fair though. When we were young the rule book was a pamphlet. Now it’s a multi volume tome. So I can understand someone not knowing a fringe rule here and there. But the appropriate reaction is to say “mea culpa, I was wrong and had my horse in an class he was ineligible for and I’m sorry.” Not to slyly edit out all reference to rule breaking and continue to advertise the round like it was kosher. Either this was intentional cheating or ignorance but either way I think the response speaks to the seller’s character. And that’s worth discussing even if the USEF has been notified. I also think the issues of what is appropriate for the level and how judges score nice rides that don’t meet the level directives are also appropriate to discuss.

You did not fail, it is this forum.
If you use the reply button, but do not use the quote feature you get the little notification that it is a reply, UNLESS (this applies to your post) it is the post directly following the post it is replying to. For some reason, the people who wrote the software feel that if the reply directly follows the post there does not need to be any form of notification that it is a reply to that post.

I admit, the technical ins and outs this forum frequently baffle me, I was a long time lurker and only made an account to make it easier to find where I left off in the LK threads

The technical ins and outs of this forum frequently baffle me too.

That is a darn good reason to make an account. And now we have you suckered into posting too.

lol

I owe y’all an apology. Yesterday was a frustrating mix of professional and personal difficulties and for some silly reason I used this thread to act out.

I’m sorry about that.

I am disgusted by the seller’s dishonesty, and I am glad that it was reported.

Now now, let’s not get carried away @SillyHorse

we replaced the over the range microwave (or Meecro Wahveh) and that was a bitch of a job. I wrote on the sheetrock “NEXT TIME PAY LOWES TO DO THIS” before we installed the replacement.

Then, we replaced the dishwasher. And that was a triple salchow of a job. So I whacked my head on the under sink cabinet, water got all over the floor, DH was a sputtering volcano of dammits and nothing ever works (not true) and I spent the day dousing his tiny fires and then the new one POURED water all over the floor because the thingy didn’t stay attached to the hosey and then WATERY and he’s full blown volcano and I was Pompeii and I was NOT HAVING IT. NONE OF IT.

All is fine. It’s FINE.

onward!

Thank you guys, and again- I’m sorry about being a jerk.
