Of breeches do you own? I’m contemplating a new pair but I already have 6 of different colors so it’s not like I need a new pair but…
3 for winter, though they are all a little worn
3 for shoulder season - the 3rd because I love these breeches (Ovation Taylored) and could only find them on Ebay, so grabbed an extra while I could.
4-ish for summer but again, they’re getting worn, and a couple I may not fit into anymore
8, I think. But I primarily rotate the same 3-4 pairs of tights, because the other 4 don’t have the thigh pocket for my phone - and I ride alone when no one is home 99% of the time.
- Two canary for fox hunting, and one buff for riding English at home; then two black for Mounted Archery competitions. Plan to buy white HIGH WAISTED for my one and only dressage show in August. Oh and one rust colored from my first hunt ever in 1968-west those once a year for cubbing.
8 but I just ordered a 9th pair yesterday😅what can I say, I luv fashion.
But really, at least 4 of those I don’t really wear and have been meaning to sell.
Between eight and ten. One or two purchased in the last year or so. Most have small defects by this point eg silicon rubbed off the seat completely, some fabric pulls, stains, missing one button but the other still works, etc. I will wear them until they expire.
I’m only trail riding a couple days a week, and I still own about 7 pairs. 3 leather full seats, one ‘clarino’ full seat, and 3 knee patches only.
My main leather full seats are 17 years old, and still perfectly wearable (though I have replaced the ankle velcro a few times.) Eurostars, I think. Darned good breeches.
So I’m on the low end compared to everyone else. The price is too good to pass up.
I don’t wish to count. I don’t like feeling like a hoarder. My umbrella stand has seven whips in it and my car has the two I actually use. Boots…
Like with regular clothes once you start riding every day your wardrobe expands. You end up with summer and winter, you end up with fancy dress (white show breeches), with ones that are a bit too tight, or starting to fade or bag but you love them, or a color that doesn’t work like you hoped. Or are perfectly fine but not your first choice for fit. Plus freebies people gave away. At some point it’s good to prune.
But 6 breeches is not crazy hoarding if you are riding every day or almost every day. If you have all your horsey needs met and want to upgrade breeches go for it!
My feeling on pants of all kinds is its hard enough to get ones that look great, buy them when you find them!
I’m with Willesdon and don’t want to count plus that’s just personal
I have 2 pairs of winter breeches, 5 pairs of tights, and about 8 pairs of regular breeches. I am addicted to buying breeches, what can I say?
i have 3 for competition (beige). I had 4 but one has a seam issue.
8-9 to school in. some i don’t like because the zipper does weird things. I ride 4-6 horses a day tho six days a week usually. So i get one day out of a pair.
Ride 6 days per week, I have 6 pairs for everyday wear and two tan pairs for shows. I found a pair of inexpensive schooling breeches I liked this year, bought every color, and consigned all my other $$$ pairs, most of which were bought used anyway.
I also used to have 2 or 3 fleece-lined pairs but I moved to a warmer climate, so I just put leggings on under my regular breeches if it’s chilly now.
Now here’s a question: for those of you that have less pants than days you ride per week, do you wash your breeches EVERY time you wear them?
No, I usually get 2-3 days out of a pair before washing but I’m only riding one horse a day.
Just depends on… how much I sweat? During the cooler months I can usually wear them 2 days in a row. In summer, they definitely need a wash after every day.
Enough to make me feel like a hoarder after reading the responses
::cough cough:: 30 ::cough cough::
Me, too. I mean 30-40 pair makes sense, right?
Some of them are OLD!! Lol I’m wearing Kerrits tights today that I bought when I started lessons again, before I got my horse who I’ve now had almost 8 years…
