Huge day today for American 3yo racing

There’s the Wood Memorial, the Blue Grass Stakes, the SA Derby, and the Tesio, all today.

Should be a day that clarifies the Derby Field, with only the Arkansas Derby left of the big stakes on the Derby trail.

Thanks for posting. When I read the list of these races I remember Alec and Henry watching them all on Henry’s TV as they were training Black Minx.

I miss the Flamingo.

And Songbird running in the SA Oaks, too!

Any of these on TV?

Wood Memorial will be on the NBC Sports Network from 5:00 – 7:00 pm ET.

Yeah, I started another thread so people could see it…the Wood doesn’t take two hours even with features and they typically show at least highlights of other races on their telecasts. Time slot fits post times for the other races so good chance we can see at least some of them.

And the Ashland (with probably the best fillies outside of Songbird) right now!!

Rachel’s Valentina is running in the Ashland. How’d she do?

Battled it out gamely down the stretch with Cathryn Sophia. Unfortunately neither one of them saw Weep No More flying at the end…

And Songbird just continues to amaze…

Just a walk over for Songbird

Songbird was just amazing!! It’s pouring rain here at Santa Anita and she brung it home in spectacular fashion.

It was nice of Rick Porter to stand in the rain by the winner’s circle entry and talk to my friend and me after the race. He’s a gentleman of class for sure.

Caught them all on my over air OTB broadcast - through my roof antenna from 50 miles away.

Songbird was amazing again.

Glad for the Desormeauxs & Exaggerator.
And that Lyah Gyarmati trained Adventist has made the cut so far…

Here’s the list of Derby qualifiers.

This, plus the Grand National - great day of racing!

Exaggerator was impressive! Watch the green silks at the back of the pack (and Wrona completely missed it until the stretch) http://youtu.be/24LOuy5OVVo

That was some move by Exagerator on the turn, uber impressive to swallow the whole field like that and finished very strong.
Will find a lot more traffic to deal with at Churchill in a month though.

Thanks, suffolk.

Announcer fairly messed up the call in the Wood. Serious screw up there.

Softer fractions, a bigger field and a dry track would make life a little tougher for Exaggerator. Still fun to watch!

Larry Collmus - not sure how he got the two horses confused. Almost as bad as Tom Durkin not even seeing Mine That Bird or saying his name until he was 2 lengths in front and about to win the 2009 Derby…
