Humourous sale ads...

What if you took some of the top Hunters or Jumpers and wrote a truthful ad for them?

Champion at Such and such show- 4 hours longeing. Got schooled 8 times the week before. Slept outside every night with no grain. Did the $10. ring 5 times. Was ridden by the pro in 3 divisions before.

I enjoy viewing your site
WTF turned me onto it after Spunky got us together.
Except, I guess prices would be nice I guess no one does that though.

My favorite is “owner must sell due to hospital bills” - I immediate start thinking how did the horse try to kill the person?

Hey Kit! Your site has been on my Lust Only List for a while now. Great site, great horses! (Kit’s now thinking, “stop looking, start buying!”)

As for “serious inquiries only” my former trainer would get all sorts of emails from bored pre-teens with computers that would give these disjointed stories about only being allowed to spend $800 or not having ANY money, but the horse would get lots of carrots everyday! Awwwwww. Plus, they would usually be in Oregon or someplace and the horse was in NC!

Ahem. Heidi, I must defend our Texas star, just as you would defend your Canadians.

Peter is a bona fide American hunter rider; one of the best in fact. He rides beautifully as a rule, and I’ve seen him ride GP courses as beautifully as hunter rounds. We can all have bad days, and I guess you saw Peter on one of those days.

This one was taken(actually cut and pasted ) from an ad w/ a piture complete with young toddler on unheld horse’s back:

“If I turn her loose in the ring, she will warm herself up and then start jumping the jumps by herself.”

It’s not just the jumping by herself…it’s the fact that the mare warms herself up. How useful would that be at a horse show?! Just turn her loose in the warm up arena, she’ll hack around and jump a couple jumps while you’re eating breakfast, and then you can just hop on and show! What a deal!

I recently saw a pony-for-sale ad in which the poor little thing was simply “outgrown”; there was no “sadly” about it. I guess one can presume “[finally] outgrown”. (the first time I saw a “sadly outgrown” I thought it was the name of the pony!

“16.3hh Hunter for Sale. Sadly Outgrown”

Is the growing child a giant?! What comes next after you outgrow a 16.3hh horse? A draft horse?

What they might mean is not physically outgrown, but outgrown challenge wise … that the rider is ready for a horse that is more challenging.
