Hunter/Jumper Trends 2016

Our eq coach got ours monogrammed. White shirts, navy embroidery on a snap collar.

Thanks! Makes me happy. Love monograms!

I haven’t shown in years and have zero interest in it anymore but for some reasoni love reading these threads

Now, the hunters are all black/navy and white, and the DQs have gone crazy with colored shadbellys and crazy stock ties!
OMG I keep seeing photos of crazy dressage outfits, and wondering if it’s an eventing thing, or traditional dressage?? I saw some dark blue boots the other day, that while really pretty actually, put my nerves on end for what I imagine the purists would have to say about those

Not the breeches, but Pytchley is still out there as a jacket brand. Mears in the UK is still making coats under that line, including bespoke ones. They’re proper hunting wool, and tweeds, not the trendy techy stuff you see everywhere now which is probably why they’ve seemed to disappear from the market. But I just ordered sidesaddle stuff from them, and they are fabulous to work with, and the coats are just lovely.

No one on this thread was saying colored shirts are trendy. But several of us were saying that we loved colored/pattered shirts back in the day, because there was a gorgeous array to compliment horse and rider, and some of us never entirely have stopped wearing them. They’re not a trend, they’re something several of us wish would come back. Then again, I’m also always threatening to order men’s dress shirts from my SO’s English shirtmaker, because their offering for men’s shirts are so much more varied than the plain and occasionally pinstriped stuff for ladies.
Oh no I was just remarking I wore a light blue one last summer but would actually like to try a contrasting collar one . However , by the time I get around to it they will be long out :frowning: I’m like those of you that never stopped . I actually need a trendier helmet ( I think anyway ) .

Someone mentioned colored leather belts. I’d love to see any new companies or lines from established brands. Any suggestions? I adore my cognac boots but I dislike pairing them with black and I don’t wear fabric belts, so my options feel limited at times.

I feel like the super blingy western-esque belts came and went really quickly but am I the only one who really enjoyed the over the top bling peaking out from under a jacket or in full view when schooling?

I’m seeing things gear towards a very techy european high fashion look.

Lots of Animo jackets and breeches.

Tucci and Parlanti boots.

Samsheild and Antares heltmets. I see lots of men wearing the Antares helmets.

I have only seen white shirts the entire 6 weeks I’ve been at HITS.

Some of the breeches people are getting are WILD looking.

This is the jumper ring I’m talking about. It’s very “futuristic equestrian” looking to me.

Hunters I’m still seeing white wrap collar shirt, tan breeches (TS usually), nice fitted sock-like boots that don’t have enough embellishment for me to usually know what brand they are, and lots of Samshield helmets.

I love the colors of the Rebecca Ray belts:

YAY !
I swear to you I can still fit in my hunter green subtle pinstripe Pytchley from the late 70’s and love it with my dark blue Pytchley pinstripe …

Speaking of Pytchley my husband and last teen daughter went to GOODWILL to find a new vacuum ( he is Dutch and very frugal to say the least ) and miraculously came home instead with TWO pair of s 26 long BEIGE Pytchley breeches . I was THRILLED . I think he paid like 5.00 for both . Yes its a classic but they are perfect. Not a pinprick or stain anywhere !!! Had to tell someone and you all would understand .

As far as shirts I think I have been wearing LIGHT solid colored ones since 1968 !
I wore a light blue one last summer and placed consistently high . I am in the Seattle area but still , born and raised in Texas . I want to try the ones with the contrasting collars.
Hahaha! I didn’t know you were on the forum! As I read your post, I kept thinking, this sounds like somebody I know!

And I want to know which Goodwill that had pytlchy breeches. And I still love a dark green coat.

Give Marie a pat for me. (Once you Rack, you never go back!)

Im a little out of the loop, but I thought the Charles Anacona coats at WEF that have the attached cuff were cool. Are people wearing those?

I will try to link to my dressage show boots, which are black with dark blue accents on the tops and on the heels.

!!! (And, I’m a man)

From what I have seen there are a lot of really awesome trends. You’re either team Parlanti or team Tucci now. Spur belts are still popular, but it’s dying off a bit now. The reversible belts are more fun (Asmar, Mane Jane etc) and there is a buzz over the Rebecca Ray Suede ones. Polo-style belts are still in.

In the jumpers you see:

 • Charles Ancona jackets
 • Coloured coats (burgundy is so nice)
 • Samshields with custom trim parts
 • SHL shirts
 • Le Fash

Hunters

 • green coats including shads (still)
 • Samshield and GPA first ladys still reign
 • Starting to see more Samshield visors

Hunt Club, My Barn Child, Sport Horse Lifestyle, Personally Preppy, Tucker Tweed and Aztec Diamond all have huge cult-like followings. Might have something to do with their flawless brand marketing and great products.

The KASK helmets look ultra nice and I’m thinking they are going to blow up soon. I certainly want one. Looks way more flattering that the first lady.

Your link didn’t work

I’m spending the weekend at WEF and this is what I’ve noticed:

-Tons of Samshield, some Charles Owen, and the occasional GPA - mostly First Ladies on juniors and ammies. Saw a few Antares as well. Everyone is saying Kask is the next big thing, but I’ve only seen one person in a Kask in two days.
-Jumpers: tons of Animo and Equiline coats, and their breeches too. A fair amount of Charles Ancona. Plenty of navy and black coats with collars and piping, but I also saw just about every shade of blue (including very, very bright blue from Equiline), every shade of green (Animo is doing a sort of blue-green that seems to be a hit, and I saw some mossy green), a lavender (could have been a french blue?), some gray, a few burgundy, and two girls in a beige/mushroom color. Some subtle bling or sparkle on collar or shoulders is happening here and there.
-Hunters are wearing Charles Ancona (especially custom) and Sarm Hippique. Lots and lots of green and gray coats. There was a girl in the 15-17 eq in a gorgeous charcoal plaid coat.
-Boots seem to be Parlanti, Tucci, or Der Dau. Spotted a fair amount of Sergio Grasso as well, and a handful of Monacos.
-Everyone’s in white show shirts, except for the occasional person in a navy or gray with a white collar. The colorblocked shirts are big as well.
-Lots of spur belts, lots of polo belts, still plenty of Tailored Sportsman belts.

What is a spur belt?

Its when the belt has a buckle that resembles a spur like this:

Those Charles Anacona coats w/ the cuffs - holy moly! I wish I could justify one - it’d solve my the-sleeves-of-all-my-shirts-are-always-too-short! But I probably do not need a $800 coat for adult w/t schooling shows!

I saw a DQ in Florida wearing a brown copper shade of Samshield hat & matching boots, a medium brown coat and white breech and stock.
She rode well, very well. I like!!
(But you better ride bloody well to pull this off )

Totally not on trend for a DQ - I wear a pair of Ariat Volant S Tall Zip Boots in the rectangle. Honestly, they are so comfortable I wear them all the time. No more breaking in stiff dressage boots for me!!!

Ha…WHY NOT? If you want to do it, do it up! We have to beat those little pig-tailed, bow-bedecked cutey kids SOMEHOW.

ETA…oops! I didn’t see the part about “adults”. Rock it anyway!
