I appreciate all the critiques for sure, and welcome them.

She’s also 1st in MD and PA and 2nd in the zone in the 3’3" A/O. In addition to being 1st in PA and 2nd in MD in the 3’3" PreGreen division against all the professionals, so for her first full year showing I couldn’t be more pleased!!

I’m sad to be missing out on all the great shows back home that are going on but I need some way to support my mare and expensive habits.

He is consistently throwing an improved topline, stronger hind end, head improvement, improved movement and athletic foals. Two of his foals just were inspected at the Oldenburg NA inspection yesterday and both scored over 8 for type.

Attached are photos I took yesterday of the two foals and their dams. The mare with the white is an Oldenburg mare by Alla’Czar. The mare without the white is a TB mare.

We are hoping to be able to offer fresh cooled contracts, as well as, the LFG frozen contracts for 2013 by housing him at a farm closer to the stallion collection station for several months.

Very pretty mare and congrats on your show season! Honestly though, neither her show record nor the lack of a BNT trainer makes much difference to me when critiquing her strengths and weaknesses to suggest a complementary stallion.

Just from the videos, I would be looking to add some step and a bit more bascule. I agree with whoever suggested jumper bred stallions. I think either Rio Grande or Cabardino would be worth looking at. My Rio filly was very ammy friendly. I know Barbara has mentioned that Apiro crosses best with mares with lots of blood, so he would be on my list as well. There have been some drool worthy Westporte babies here too.

FWIW, I have never heard of an association between Dutch Warmbloods and hind end issues. I have owned several. KWPN is a registry, not a breed. All of mine have been at least 50% Holsteiner and one is 100% Holsteiner

Betsy, I’d offer up Boleem (Dutch, btw and never any muscle problems with him or his offspring), but you might get too much knee action.

Though he does have a youngster out of a Hanoverian mare doing very well in the hunters. Flat kneed mover. Also a TB x here with me who could be a hunter. Also have a new baby here out of a TB mare. Next time you’re in the area you are welcome to look at them (a great excuse to visit Argosy…;)).

I never marketed Bo him for hunters because he had a lot of knee action, but obviously that hasn’t shown up in some.

But surely you would get a great jump. Even though Bo was a GP dressage competitor he had strong jumper lines close in (Ladykiller xx and Lucky Boy xx – his grandsire). In fact, he scored better at jumping than in the flatwork as a 3yr. at the 100 DT in Holland. Go figure…:lol:

This is a great board to get a good education, though you may need to wade through a snarky post here and there…

I agree with all of tuckaway’s post, and would add Cunningham to the list of jumper bred stallions worth consideration. He was 2x national champion conformation hunter himself, has a spectacular jump and enormous, scopey stride, and is full brother to Rosalia La Silla, who placed 5th in showjumping at the London Olympics. The bloodlines (Cassini I x Iorella by Contender) are unbeatable for both hunters and jumpers. They jump the moon and are extremely rideable horses.

Cunningham is very nice, and I have personal experience with Cabardino babies. They are all very easy to work with and since they are all under 3 I dont know about their jumping but their movement is fabulous. The only thing with them are is they are all on the small side and coming out of some larger mares. My mare is 16.1 and I’d really like to break 16.2 because I’m on the tall side

I think 2dogs is right about what she needs. To add the size, improve the movement and hindend I think I would lean towards Apiro.

My Apiro filly is a super mover and already bigger than her dam at two. Granted dam was only 15.2 but the filly looks like she will be at least a hand bigger than her mother.

Apiro is definitely on my list of possible “husbands” for my mare, as is Cunningham. Any other suggestions, just trying to get as many good candidates as possible then the fun part of narrowing it down?

I can give you my experience with a certain stallion that has worked really well for my tb mare. But, the stallion does have tb blood, not much but it is there. He has great dressage and jumping lines, Idocus and Galoubet.

Roc USA. I have a 4 year old and a weanlings by him out of my tb mare. She has some similarities to your mare. She is a tad hot and spooky and also a bit short strided. Jumped great and never lost a hack, but could be very hot.

My two colts are very huntery in type and move very good. The 4 year old is finer boned and will finish 16.2 and this was her first baby, the colt from this year is much more substantial and was champion foal at his Oldenburg inspection with 8.4 scores. He will be close to 17 hands I am sure!

The 4 year old is extremely quiet and has no spook. He will jump anything and has a huge stride. Huge.

If you go to the Roc USA thread (it should be a little down the list as I posted new pics of the colt at his inspection)

I have pics of both guys there and also some videos.

I have been very happy with the cross. Roc has very many successful babies out there winning in conformation hunters to grand prix jumpers. What he has consistently produced for me is more athleticism and a great canter. They are also very smart.

You have had some good advice, but the best advice I can give you is a lot of research and seeing some of the offspring of the stallions you like in person.

She is a lovely mare. If she was mine, I would definitely seriously consider Westporte.

He seems to add size, movement and step - and you won’t get a grey lol! (Personally, I love greys!!)

There are many other good suggestions here.

Consider Dakota VDL for hunters! Was just approved by AHHA yesterday, and also approved KWPN and BWP. Superb movement and carriage, 9’s for jumping, clean tight front end and big open hind end along with an easy temperament. He is potentially very versatile for breeders in NA.
First foal crop was born in Europe this year and several due in the US next year. One of the best young stallions in NA right now.

Amazing by Balou du Rouet

I couldn’t be more pleased with our colt Aut of the Balou this year by Amazing. He is everything I could have asked for and more…well I really wanted a filly LOL. I bred my mare back to try for that keeper filly this year and the 2014 cross has already been sold. The best part is Ahna is great to work with and if you contact her, I have found her to be more than honest about how he will cross with your mare. Also this colt is a realy pleasure to work around. You may want to consider Ironman. He throws size, great dispositions, great movement, a beautiful jump and great rideability.
