Husky / Stanley Tack Trunk Owners

Can I make a small request to those of you with these trunks?

Please latch the catches, don’t leave them hanging loose. They are sharp as hell when you walk into them…

Are they both waterproof?! I’m dithering. :-/

This is the plate I have on the tops of my Stanley trunks - covers the logo perfectly: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00T1VYSW0?keywords=effect%20engraved%20name%20plate&qid=1458753504&ref_=sr_1_15&sr=8-15

Cool! I think I’ve decided on the Stanley vs the Husky!

I think both are quite good - the finish on the stanley is actually a LITTLE nicer than the Husky, but i went with the Husky because of the rubber seal. The Stanley is water “resistant” because the plastic overlaps at the lips, but the Husky claims waterPROOF, and has a rubberized seal that goes all the way around. I can attest that my tack has stayed 100% dry when my trunk was “accidentally” drenched during a hose fight amongst the lesson kids.

Here’s the link for what I got

It’s a perfect fit for the recessed area on the Husky. For the Stanley, i don’t think there IS a recessed area, but from what I remember the Stanley label is smaller, so it would be plenty big to cover that one as well. Hope that helps! I definitely love this thing!

Reviving this awesome thread to ask advice about a detail I don’t see explored here: trunk covers. I want to buy a plastic trunk but have it fit in at my fancy barn, so I need one that can be camouflaged. Anyone know how these two trunks match up with off-the-shelf trunk covers? It looks like the Husky might be a little too big for the Dover. I am otherwise leaning towards it, given reviews here. But don’t want to buy it if it’s going require a $200 custom cover.

We had a mom at our barn who made a “skirt” for hers - velcro around the trunk and on the fabric so it was easy to put on and take off. She then fashioned a cushion that attached to the top. It looked very nice.

I get mine from here: http://www.rideeverystride.com/stable-accessories They have a good pattern for the Stanley trunks. The top is zippered so you don’t have to take the whole thing off to lift the trunk lid. They’re also waterproof.

I Love my stanley! I have 3 big ones, and one small one, debated getting the tiered one too, but I really don’t need that one lol.

I would love to get a vinyl sticker put on the bin, instead of my name!

I used my Stanley trunk with wheels when I was showing and at events. Loved it!! Everything fit but my saddle. Never thought about putting a name sign on it. Great idea!

I have the Husky trunk and I love it, I was very sad that the new barn I just moved to doesn’t allow trunks.

I got the largest adhesive plate that SmartPak offered and it has stuck well to the year of use it got. I would store my grooming tote on top, so it saw plenty of things getting thrown at it and slid over it too without issue.

Any estimate on price? I emailed them.

I bought mine a few years ago so I can’t recall accurately. I want to say $150 CDN maybe?

Lots of people offer tack trunk covers with zippers now, I would look into any company that offers tack trunk covers. If you’re in Canada I can offer a bunch.

OH I like that! And the Initials, lovely!

Is anyone willing to share how they have customized or organized the inside of their Stanley trunks? I’m a bit OCD when it comes to organizing and love to see how others do theirs and how they customize it… I’ve seen mirrors, wipe boards, etc…attached somehow to the lids.

Thank you

I believe I ordered it from Personally Preppy. It still looks just as good. Some stickers don’t stay well but this has not budged.

K, silly question, but I was actually looking at the Huskys last night online! Can you sit on them? I am just picturing kids sitting and climbing all over them at shows…Do they crack? Thanks!

I (an adult) sit on mine pretty regularly, and have stood on it on occasion. No issues, it feels very sturdy.

RE: covers- mine had a vinyl monogram on the front of it, but I recently inherited a cover from someone who bought a trunk secondhand and didn’t want the cover theirs came with. The one they bought was one of the fancier, proper wood trunks, but the cover from that fit very nicely over my Husky, so I’d assume that a standard cover size would. The one I was given doesn’t have a zip top, though, so it’s incredibly annoying to take on and off; if you get a cover, go with a zip-top one!

Also stupid question: does your saddle fit in there? And can you put some kind of bridle rack business in?
