But the introduction of a “bug” if that is what it was was a result of addressing the hacking issue. Do you back out the bug and re-introduce a different and IMO, more destructive problem, or leave the current bug alone which does inconvenience users while trying to work through a solution?
Today, I posted a number of times (never using the Reply With Quote) but always with Post Quick Reply and have not see the 30 second wait problem. I use the back arrow to return 2 levels to the target forum. Using Safari.
I received an update from the tech people. From what I gather, they had to perform an unplanned update to the site’s software to protect against future hacking issues. They’re now having to sort of work backwards to address all of the compatibility issues with our site’s set-up that normally would have been addressed behind the scenes if it was a planned update.
The glitches are going to be addressed. We’re not going to be stuck with a semi-functional site, but the circumstances necessitating the update have resulted in a less smooth than normal update experience, for which we apologize!
Thanks for your patience…seriously…we appreciate and share the annoyance!

Thank you for the update, Mod 1.
Mod 1, thanks for the update.
After being in IT for my work career, I get how sometimes a “fix” can have unintended and undesired results and the subsequent being stuck between the row and the hard place when where you are is icky but going back is even ickier.
We’ll all live
Give your IT crew an extra holiday goodie from me!!!
At the time of my posting I was not aware they were responding to security issues. You make a valid point and yes, in such a situation it may be better to fix things going forward, though to be kind to customers, putting a banner or general statement on the front page of the forums would go along way to mollifying the troops.
It could help to both take in input in a more controlled manner then random posts, for example I cannot get emotes to work. It would also help to post progress. Granted, this is a (hopefully) one off issue, but most Dev environments to allow customer to track known issues being corrected. If there is such a place here, I’m not aware.
I also give my kindest regards to the coders behind the scenes. Fixing basically live code around an angry mob is like changing a tire on the side of the highway with bees buzzing around your face. I wish I could help.
JP60… I love your analogy about fixing live code around an angry mob. Made my day
Kinda have been “watching” since since right around Thanksgiving (I think it was) when the hack silliness happened and the board was offline for a few days and the subsequent posts that the board was up with changes to try to prohibit the hack again.
With the edit post issue, I’ve found it works if you open the “edit post” link in a new tab or window. Not ideal but a temporary fix.
Any good news from the tech experts about when the glitches might be fixed ?! please
Read the other thread about posting twice, updates from the Mod are in there.
I haven’t been out here for a while. Have any of the issues been fixed?
No
I’ve recently discovered that the developers have been working on a significantly revamped site for the magazine, as well as the forums. The timing of the hacking episodes that necessitated some software updates to our current site was not the greatest (when is it ever?).
My impression is that they don’t want to devote a ton of resources to addressing the glitches that resulted from the software update they had to do on this version, because there’s a significantly revamped site that will soon be released…which makes sense, though we appreciate it’s annoying to have to contend with a glitchy site.
The new site should have some features everyone should appreciate (cough–mobile version-cough, cough), so please bear with us during this awkward stage!
Thanks ~

Double post
Oh, mod, don’t tease. A mobile site??? BE STILL MY HEART.
(If you throw in a decent photo handler for uploaded pics, I cross my heart that I will buy premium. Swear it.)
Don’t know if it is related but I used to be able to click View Post to read an individual post by someone on my Ignore list.
This feature no longer appears to work. I still can’t read the individual post. Not really a big deal but sometimes I am curious about specific content and not willing to overall unblock the poster
Where’sMyWhite, can’t view anyone on ignore either click on view post and nothing. Can read posters who are on ignore if not logged in…saves unblocking them.

GAH! Every. Time.
Hahaha…see, I feel your pain.
Mod1, at least you are keeping your sense of humor about this
So totally not fun dealing with PITA issues from a wide range of folks in the user base.
And, simply based on a life of anecdotal experience, while the new platform sounds nicer and an improvement, I am expecting a bit of growing pains with it as well (everything is not found in testing as nice as it would be to assume it will be  ).
