At least you have a date. That totally sucks about the rent increase. 42% is
This is the 5th time we’ve had a “date.” March 31, April 30, May 21, June 30, now August 13.
I don’t have my hopes up. I’m devastated that there is no hope of getting in my new house this summer. It will be 8 months since our offer in August.
We were shown another property earlier this week but it just wasn’t right. More money, worse location, not horse ready at all, less house…
should work as it also a Friday, nothing should interfere… maybe get a few Black cats?
Thanks for pointing that out. Great.
42% !
I’m so sorry this trainwreck continues ! It’s ALL just wrong !
Dear Abby staying out of trouble ? I hope !
Yes @Zu_Zu she is, knock on wood, staying out of trouble… for now! You wouldn’t even know she fractured her spleen and almost died 2 months ago. She loves it here, so she’s a happy camper to say the least.
If it makes you feel any better, @Texarkana, I’ve been trying to sell 2.2 acres of my property to a neighbor for a YEAR. He made me an offer in June 2020, and we immediately submitted paperwork to my mortgage company to begin the “partial release of collateral” process and to the county planning commission (required locally here when subdividing land). Got it surveyed and approved by the county immediately. My mortgage company has drug their feet and drug their feet and drug their feet. They came back months later and said they wanted a survey of my remaining property too…even though they didn’t require one when I purchased the property in March 2020. After we submitted that, it took several more months for them to order an appraisal of my property, and more than a month after the appraisal was submitted to finally give us the clear to close. On 2.2 acres of undeveloped/undevelopable land from my previously ~10 acre property.
Holy moly. Good thing my neighbors are super patient…and all they want the land for is so their kids can get goats, so thankfully it wasn’t a pressing issue.
@Montanas_Girl what an ordeal! I hope you reach a resolution soon! You are a good neighbor for dealing with this headache.
My settlement date, many years ago, was August 13. It wasn’t a Friday, but it was still a mess. However, at the moment, I am still here!
Frustrating day. I’m packing for a beach vacation. In March, my mom bought my son beach toys for his birthday, knowing we would be going this summer. I packed them away in moving boxes right away, because uh, we were supposed to be in the new house end of March at that point.
Today I had to rifle through the towers of packed boxes to unpack them. I also unpacked a bunch of kitchen items that I have been frustratingly living without since early spring: measuring cups, colanders, pans, etc.
A month or so ago the new fear became that we would be closing or needing to move the week of this upcoming vacation. Well, that fear is off the table.
All first world problems, I know. I have so much more than many. But I’m just so darn angry about how this has all turned out. I wish we would have just had our offer turned down like every other property at this point. Being on a hook for half a year has been awful. The issues just keep piling up, and I haven’t even updated you all on the latest drama (yes there is more) because I want to keep it offline for now.
Thank you for attending my pity party.
On the good side, you clearly label your boxes well enough that you can find what is in them. That is a skill you should be proud of.
If anyone deserves an extra adult beverage and full blown pity party it’s you.
Hope your vacay goes well and you can decompress a bit
Seriously! I do not have that skill.
What Lenapesadie said. I’ve finally perfected the perfect coconut mojito … hope you like coconut… and mojitos!! I’d give you seven. I don’t blame you for being angry… Hope you have fun at the beach and can decompress a bit.
Hear hear!!
Enjoy your vacation, Tex! Have an extra beverage (or seven!) you definitely deserve it with what you’ve been through.
I am so so sorry. Enjoy your vacation, you deserve it!
My husband has been joking about buying his boss’ property for years. Well it turns out it is hitting the market next month.
My husband tends to exaggerate and made it sound like his boss had some massive family estate on hundreds of acres. No, it’s a house the same size as what we are/were purchasing on a 5 acre lot. The location is MUCH better. I don’t know what they will be asking, the real estate sites estimate it’s value at about $60k over our budget. I suspect it will be listed even higher. It has no horse facilities, but appears to have promise. The next door neighbors have horses, and their lot is of identical size; basically a mirror image. His boss says we can come check it out before it hits the market.
Wouldn’t it be crazy if something came of all this. If nothing else, it’s a glimmer of hope.
Definitely worth going to look at!
What I kept saying when all of my crap was happening was that the universe might be telling me this wasn’t the place for me.
Hoping for a good outcome - sounds like maybe a door opening
Our family bought a premarket place minus the real estate agency fee and that made it affordable. Fingers crossed.
Given your current rent increase situation and unknown end to that, 60k stretch doesn’t sound so bad!
