I couldn’t help notice that you mentioned you had Chrissy for all of her 13 years. I think you provided your horse with the best life a horse can have - the security of one owner. I think people forget that animals thrive on security and consistency. Too many horses go from one owner to another, from one barn to another, from one caretaker to another, etc., for their whole lives. I am sure that Chrissy never had to worry about a thing, and that is because of you. I know how sad it is to lose a horse, and I know that it hurts (actually physically hurts in your heart), but remember Chrissy had it great and she is very thankful for her many years with you.
Oh, Nina, I’m so sorry.
So sorry for the loss of your beautiful friend. In time, the wounds will heal and the memories will make you smile. Until then, you will be in my thoughts and prayers.

I wanted to reply sooner, but I find the saddness of your loss to be very overwhelming.

So sorry for your loss. I lost mine to a broken femur two years ago. You can feel peace in the fact that you gave her a great life and that she knew that she was loved.

OH, dear
I’m sorry for your loss.
Adding my condolences to those of many articulate others. Hope that we are able to make it just a teeny-tiny fraction easier to bear.
Nina,

So sorry, Nina.
Alitia, your story about Shane is priceless. Yet another example of how smart kids can be. Hope your poems and anecdote provide some solace for Nina.
my deepest sympathies. i hope your pain is soon replaced by happy memories.
those poems were beautiful - i am sitting here with tears streaming down my face.
Oh God …how awful…so sorry!
Nina, I am so sorry for your loss.
dear Nina, I am so so very sorry for your loss. I lost my first horse due to a kick back in 1974. It was her front leg, right under the shoulder, shattered to bits. It’s been almost 30 years now, hard to believe…I didn’t own her that long, but I still think of her, and have such fond memories of her.
Thirteen years is a long friendship and partnership-take time to grieve and think about all the good and the bad. You will always have your memories-it won’t help to bring her back, but you know you did your best, and tried so hard. I am so very sad for you-keep her in your heart always. I think as we get older, it gets even harder to lose animals-take care of yourself and know that there a lot of us here who are thinking of you. big hug

So very sorry Nina
I am so sorry for your loss. In your 13 years together you must have some wonderful memories. If you feel up to it, will you share some with us? I know when I lost my Pounce 1 1/2 years ago, it helped a lot to be able to tell my friends (cyber and virtual) about some of the times we had together.
You have my deepest sympathy.
