Nina, <<hugs>> to you and Sue. I feel like I “knew” Chrissy from hearing about her on E-L, though I’ve never met her. I am so sorry for your loss

Libby

Forgot about this earlier when I posted. Someone posted it on another website. Anyone who’s ever lost their best friend will relate. Hope it helps!

Don’t Cry For The Horses

Don’t cry for the horses that life has set free;
A million white horses for ever to be.
Don’t cry for the horses, now in Gods hand,
As they dance and prance in a heavenly band.
They were ours as a gift, but never to keep;
As they close their eyes, forever in sleep.
Their spirits abound. On silver wings fly.
A million white horses against the blue sky.
Look up into heaven, you’ll see them above.
The horses we lost, the horses we love.
Manes and tails flowing they gallop through time.
They were never yours. They were never mine.
Don’t cry for the horses. They’ll be back some day.
When our time is gone, they will show us they way.
Do you hear that soft nicker, so close to your ear?
Don’t cry for the horses, love the ones that are here.

So sorry.

'Cause we got a K car, on the road of life, yeah we got a K car…

I am so sorry, how sad. She was such a beautiful horse…she she was your pet and your friend and her heart was more beautiful then any outward appearance.

…to once more express my thanks to all of you have posted on this thread. And to all of you who may have sent silent condolences.

For me this thread has been a very important part of the healing process. I just wanted all of you to know that.

I am planning to print out this thread and keep it with my pictures of Chrissy.

Once again, thanks to all of you.

Nina

“We who choose to surround ourselves with lives even more temporary than our own, live within a fragile circle, easily and often breached. Unable to accept its awful gaps, we still would live no other way. We cherish memory as the only certain immortality, never fully understanding the necessary plan.”

Aww Nina, I’m so sorry. What a horrible thing to happen.

So very sorry Nina.

I’m sorry Nina - it’s been almost a year to the day since lost my old hunter Raven to a fractured humerus from a kick, so I can well imagine the pain you are dealing with…

Many cyber hugs, and I will drink a glass of wine for you and Chrissy tonight too (or 3 or 4)…

I’m so very sorry for your loss.

How awful, Nina…I’m SO very sorry.

Nina -

My heart goes out to you and your sister too. You are in our thoughts and prayers. Hold on to those happy memories.

This is one poem that I always thought was nice.

I’ll lend you for a little while
My grandest foal, God said.
For you to love while she’s alive
And mourn for when she’s dead.
It may be one or twenty years,
Or days or months, you see.
But will you, till I take her back
Take care of her for me?
She’ll bring her charms to gladden you,
And should her stay be brief
You’ll have those treasured memories
As solace for your grief.
I cannot promise she will stay,
Since all from earth return.
But there are lessons taught on earth
I want this foal to learn.
I’ve looked the wide world over
In my search for teachers true.
And from the throngs that crowd life’s lanes
With trust, I have selected you.
Now will you give her all your love?
Nor think the labor vain,
Nor hate me when I come
To take her back again?
I know you’ll give her tenderness
And love will bloom each day.
And for the happiness you’ve know
you will forever grateful stay.
But should I come and call for her
Much sooner than you’d planned
You’ll brave the bitter grief that comes
And maybe understand.

I spent some time today going through my pictures. I found the picture of Chrissy with Jack Trainer at Devon and scanned it. Chrissy was a very good in-hand horse and did quite well both zone and nationally. Two years ago I had the priviledge of handling her in the Amateur Handler class at Devon which she won (and, believe me, it took no great skill on my part: 8 years later she remembered everything.) I stood in the winner’s circle with Chrissy (she was horrified by the display as all good German princesses should be) with tears in my eyes remembering how much Sally Sexton had liked her when she showed as a baby.

Driving back from the stable tonight it came to my mind that there is a heck of an in-hand class going on at the Rainbow Bridge right now. Between Gerry Goldman, Sally (both Wheeler and Sexton) and Jack and the horses (I well remember showing against Innisfree) there should be some serious jaw flapping going on.

I have attached the picture.

Nina (thank you all again)

Foz and I are so very sorry for your loss. She was a stunning mare.

I am so sorry for your loss of your beautiful Chrissy. I don’t know how I missed your original post, but please accept my most heartfelt condolences and sympathy for you. The quote from Irving Townsend is one that I had stuck to my computer for years and then lost. It is so sadly appropriate.
She will always be in your heart, forever. Beautiful Mare.
love, Gail

I’m so sorry…

I know nothing will make you feel better, but I am sure Chrissy appreciated every little bit of love and attention you gave her. Horses know when they are loved…

I am so sorry to hear of your loss.

I lost my Easy to a shattered hock 3 years ago. I miss him all the time. But I have wonderful memories, and in time that is what you will think of with Chrissy, instead of the end.

I can’t imagine the sorrow you are surely feeling. I hope that with time the pain in your heart will be pushed aside by happy memories.

Give yourself time to grieve, it is all part of the healing process.

All our prayers and thoughts are with you at this difficult time.
