I Think There's a Troll in These Woods
You mean, as in “Ubby-Dubby” language? That’s what I think of every time I see that…“Hub-I Frub-einds”

Please tell me someone else remembers that and knows what I’m talking about… :o
We spoke “Ab.” Hab-i Frab-iends. If you got real good and fast at it, your parents couldn’t understand what you were saying. W00t!

…and yet another one.

Is it a school holiday here in the US or in Canada? Maybe lots of bored adolescent girls?

Gee, Horse Care hasn’t been this entertaining since the days of the great farrier wars…not in broad daylight for sure.

I still wonder if the canadians aren’t having a good ole time with us. We are working up to T-giving.

Canadians have other things on their minds at the moment.

Crock, we are referring to the old COTH tradition of crazy Canuck days around our Thanksgiving Day down here. Kind of faded out in the last 5 years or so. Plus the apparent demise of another board up there and the migration of many to this one. Judging from their thread over on Off Course, their minds are quite cluttered with many things with room for more.

Yes I knew that. I just doubt that is what is up now -

And this one is all about a stallion. :sigh:

How prolific can you get? No pun intended.

I’ve been feeding the troll, but sometimes, trolls are fun to play with. I think the teenager trolls should be called Twilight Trolls.

So bored -replying even though we know it is bogus. lol

It’s not fun when they don’t reply back!

I’ve been amazed at the number of multiple greenie posters showing up on the same thread (like the Mary Motyl one). How do they know?! It’s like BB magic.
INORITE?!?!

Or the one in which the OP is ragey-ranty about someone and then that person, or a dear close friend or associate, shows up in the discussion!
How do they know which thread of the gazillions to look at.

GreenieOP :: keyboarding:: So, like, there’s this person I know… blahblahblah…Snidely Whiplash of the world…blahblahblah…cruel…
blahblahblah…fat…blahblahblah…bovine…what to do? what to do?

GreenieOP :: at barn the next day :: And I showed her. I shamed her in front of the whole innerwebz and everything! And all the peeps agreed with me!
:: thinks :: That’ll teach her to mock my neon pink riding breeches.

FellowBoarder :: later that day at the barn :: And she said she wrote that you intentionally hit your horse with a shovel every single day and use the rollkur and only canter 1 meter circles every single day and with your weight-to-horse ratio you can be charged with cruelty…

Snidley Whiplash of the Equine World :: keyboarding :: I’m new here but someone told me and that bit
Nothing is more annoying than going into a thread to judge posters and finding the most offending posts have been deleted. argh. >:(
WON’T SOMEBODY THINK OF THE RUBBERNECKERS??!!

You are generous. I doubt most trolls know who Snidely Whiplash is.

O.K. newcomers - here’s the deal: no need to get all worried about the welcome you will receive here.

Use a courteous tone, chose a non-controversial subject, stay involved with the thread instead of lighting the fire and running away at the first spark. Use paragraphs, and don’t sound like a ditzy teenager (even if you re older).

There are three or four people who always are cranky and ‘right wing’, or
contentious, but they are still relatively normal.

This thread is outing the trolls they believe start threads for some insane reason and who think it is either clever or fun…not.

Welcome horse lovers all.

There’s a new one.

It’s like a paperchase, spotting the clues.

The above format was followed, but the answer to the question was foolishly obvious.

Believe me, it’s appreciated that it’s both annoying and entertaining to have people come here to post embellished, fabricated and/or dramatized stories, etc. However, we’d like to avoid having people labeled as trolls and treated poorly because people’s troll-y senses are tingling.

As just one example, the poster with the stallion boarding issue has an email that was able to be linked to a real-live grown-up via a quick search. Not commenting on the content of the thread, but just as an example of making assumptions about whether or not someone is “real” or not.

It’s fine to post a reality check on a thread where you think it’s needed, or just ignore a thread that seems bogus if you don’t want to potentially waste your time, but whatever your choice, please avoid labeling someone as a troll and pawing them back and forth like a half-dead mouse.

This site is certainly not a fit for everyone in the industry, but we’d like it to be welcoming for people with all levels of experience. Perhaps given the opportunity, someone might have their eyes opened to new information that could improve the life of a horse now or down the line.

Thanks!
