I Think There's a Troll in These Woods
I have never understood why having a huge number of posts makes one far more valuable. At one point, a poster DIDN’T have huge numbers of posts. We all had to start somewhere.
I think the point was, not that anyone poster is any more “valuable” than any other poster, but the more you post, the more others know where you are coming from and if you are trolling or not.

That makes sense.

I remember in the past, new posters were rarely given any credibility and being new was their only offense. It was pointed out frequently to new posters

Well, as a newcomer, this has been an interesting read. Not terribly welcoming, but interesting. Special appreciation for the snark towards those who made the jump from TOB.

OK then, let me say welcome, zonderpaard!

Not necessarily so, many seem to be posters that have participated in both places and are commenting on TOB and bringing here their differences there.

I think they should feel welcome, they even have a thread here for them to air their differences.

Yeah, another one. Somebody may be yanking our chains here.

New posters are always welcome and I don’t remember any snark simply because they were new. More about repeated bizarre content here, the kind that hits hot button topics.

I don’t have many posts, I mostly read the topics and advice given but maybe a lot of the new posters are young? (ie. teenagers) hence the D.R.A.M.A.

Teenage Trolls?!

I usually bookmark potential trainwrecks so I can read them later when I have nothing else to do… I find that they’re much more fun to read in front of the fire with a bowl of snacks!

Possibly…or hopefully, I could understand it from kids who find it fun to play make believe.

I wonder how many first time posters we have seen in the last 10 days or so? With mostly single paragraph tales of angst, woe, tragedy and unfairness? That come back only once or not at all? Anybody keep track of that?

And how about the revisions of the original long sad story? Like the bone chip deemed not serious that suddenly becomes two bone chips with yet another in a long series of vets. Or the sudden " never mind" in the 3/4 ownership questions. May not be trolls but there is a strong hint of make believe going on.

Thats the weird part that is unfortunately going to make it hard for legitimate first timers to get an appropriate response.

Do they not think the inconsistencies in their stories won’t be noticed? I mean if you are going to troll, get your story straight first!

That possibility has been brought many times.

There are some very knowledgeable young people on COTH, then there are a couple that aren’t, but will JUST NOT GO AWAY!

double post
Am I the only one who sees “ubdubbers” when people type udbbers? Lol, I keep reading it in my head funny…

additionally, omg the “end of the road” thread…
You mean, as in “Ubby-Dubby” language? That’s what I think of every time I see that…“Hub-I Frub-einds”

Please tell me someone else remembers that and knows what I’m talking about… :o

I agree with you. It’s hard to imagine any reasonable person getting spun up over the ASBs finally banning tail-setting. But… I fed the troll anyway. :o

This many new posters with controversial thread topics usually does not happen until the middle of winter. Awfully early in the troll season for this.

Here is another potential new troll with a thread about an older stallion that has been “unilaterally castrated.”

ETA: And of course this stallion is 18 years old and unrideable. Of course.

Where is Billy Goat Gruff when you need him?

New posters, jaundiced attitudes, rants etc.
