I Think There's a Troll in These Woods

Toadies: Daughter doesn’t own a horse anymore, so my post count stays low. I could have contributed mightily to show mom/barn drama threads back in the day!

She is consigned to Western Texas due to her husband’s job, and I am going to put up a doozy of a post in “horseless riders” for her if she doesn’t find something to ride soon. But have to wait till football season is over since she and her DH are both highly involved.

Ok, on to NP: (having a slow week at work, so looked him up). It was pretty simple: nickperonace.com.

I love the opening page: NP himself, posing in front of a flag with what looks like a sheriff’s badge on a string around his neck. With some handcuffs on the right surrounded by the words: fugitive recovery. He now has facial hair. Because that makes him look tougher, I guess.

His promotional blurb about what he does (asking bail bondsman if they need help tracking down people) is signed by “Agent Nick Peronace”. I swear I couldn’t make this up if I tried!

That is just the “home” page, like I said his dressage career is now on his hobbies page.

Sooo…

I’ve read these forums off and on for many years. I never responded. About a year ago I actually created a name and was going to post about something that happened at a show that had upset me. Was just looking for others with similar experiences to make myself feel better.

I ended up never posting because I calmed myself down.

Recently I’ve started posting a bit, I’ve had some spare time and I’ve been reading the forums again.

Now I’m afraid to start any threads! I swear I’m a real person ;)
You know, I posted my “troll in the dungeon” joke above and then realized my post count is TINY…I’m a real person too, I swear! ;D

Hey, maybe we can revert to an old COTH tradition that has faded lately. Used to be US Thanksgiving Day was taken over by crazy Canucks who came up with all sorts of ridiculous threads. Mods (Erin at the time) let most of them roll.

The best were clever, tongue in cheek satires of frequently discussed topics inviting group participation and hilarious.

Maybe the recent infux of denizens of the frigid north could revive that?

So are the trolls, we are never sure which person.

This might be one in the making…

If all the UDBBers are obnoxious flamers, maybe they could just go away and find another sandbox?
I don’t think all are, and don’t know who all from here is a UDBBer - certainly we have plenty of crossover. I just can see folks who aren’t really interested or were previously banned from this forum being bored and making new identities and stirring up crap.

But it was FUNNY, obviously meant as a joke, and you’ve been a member for a while!

Maybe. Only other post was about buying a horse with an old fractured sesamoid, never came back after the initial post on that one either,

Yeah, I had to force myself to refrain from responding to that because I had a really good comment all figured out. Then I said, why bother?

On the other hand, perhaps I should just go with it. Maybe by posting a topic which is guaranteed to elicit strong opinions and maybe even contention, the person (or troll) is giving us something valuable to talk about.

Holy moly. When did everyone start taking crazy pills? We’ve got greenies posting manifestos on 1/2 the forums, and old timers shadow boxing on the other half.

Some of these threads are just more grown up versions of “Did not! Did too”"

Entertaining for a short while, then quickly degrades into a table tennis match with a hangover.

Am I the only one who sees “ubdubbers” when people type udbbers? Lol, I keep reading it in my head funny…

additionally, omg the “end of the road” thread…

greenies posting manifestos
I could have saved myself a lot of typing if only I had composed this brilliant phrase.

I call Troll profiling going on over here. Only pulling over trolls for entertainment purposes. Non trolls can be interesting too!

Does anyone remember the poster from a year or so ago that caused train wrecks everywhere then, when called out on it, said she was a college student and we were all some big psychology experiment or something. Maybe she’s back…

Heavens yes! I DO remember that. But she soundid batshit crazy. I think we basically all formed a big pile-on and told her politely to go f@ck herself. What a bunch of malarchy. College experiment, pssshhhhtt.

Edited to add: The “end of the road” thread is bizarre! I’m afraid to post on it. That kid is either playing everyone like a cheap deck of cards, or she has some serious emotional issues going on. Personally, I think the drama is a bit high, and the productivity of the multitude of vets a bit low, for it to be in the up and up.

I have never understood why having a huge number of posts makes one far more valuable. At one point, a poster DIDN’T have huge numbers of posts. We all had to start somewhere.

It doesn’t, but it does make it easier to “sniff out the crazy”…sometimes…

Well, theer is something to that.

Makes me wonder if those thinking all new posters are potential trolls were suspected and/or accused of the same thing when they started posting.

Probably depends on what they posted! I don’t recall being accused of such, but I didn’t have a Black Beauty story or any drama in my life. Usually that is part of the behavior that earns one the troll moniker. There’s drama, there are inconsistencies and all of a sudden people think…this can’t be real. I don’t think generally they are trolls in the YouTube sense but rather…lonely people with creative storytelling issues.

Just FYI,

Something might be brewing over here.

Yes, that one was a strange thread for COTH, that is not into saddlebreds, I don’t think.
