ICE Raid At Delta Downs

They are having problems being asked for warrants or documentation for what they are doing. ICE are not reporting to the PD or dispatchers what they are doing. They are not going to be sitting there 20 minutes later when officers arrive on scene.

I think the idea is, if a person is at home, or in a school or church, if people claiming to be ICE show up, you call 911 and do not open the door. Officially, anyway, they can’t break down the door unless (maybe?) they have a judicial warrant. Which they usually don’t.

That might work if they were knocking on doors.

on who’s SS#?

Given where she most likely gets her so-called news from, alas, yes.

The police would simply never support ICE or harm someone who hasn’t done anything wrong, we all know that. /s

Mine apparently.

Individuals who are ineligible for an SSN, such as immigrants who are in the U.S. illegally and not authorized to work, can apply for an Individual Taxpayer Identification Number, opens new tab (ITIN) regardless of their immigration status, according to the IRS.

An ITIN can only be used for federal tax purposes and does not grant work authorization, change immigration status or provide social security benefits, the IRS page says.

https://www.reuters.com/fact-check/undocumented-immigrants-can-do-pay-taxes-2025-02-26/

Federal, state, and local governments in the U.S. levy a wide array of taxes and most of those taxes affect undocumented immigrants in some fashion. Much like their neighbors, undocumented immigrants pay sales and excise taxes on goods and services like utilities, household products, and gasoline. They pay property taxes either directly on their homes or indirectly when these taxes are folded into the price of their monthly rent. And they pay income and payroll taxes through automatic withholding from their paychecks or by filing income tax returns using Individual Taxpayer Identification Numbers (ITINs).

Many of the so-called instances of employment-related identity theft committed by illegal immigrants are actually identity loans where the owner of a government-issued identity allows the illegal immigrant worker to use that legal identity for work purposes. There are few statistics available to estimate the frequency of identity loans but they appear to be commonplace. One survey-based paper found that immigrant farmworkers estimated that 50 to 70 percent of their coworkers used loaned documents whose procurement is usually arranged by a supervisor, friend, colleague, or a fourth party.

I’m saying call an officer when you see this going on. Officer shows up, talks to whomever checks their credentials and has dispatch contact the appropriate agency to verify what’s going on.
I sure would call if I saw some guy getting roughed up in the street by a bunch of unidentified guys with masks on. It’s not that hard to comprehend.
Once it’s verified it’s legit that’s the end. If it’s not then the officers can conduct an investigation into a kidnapping if whatever it turns out to be.

How many of these “squads” are actually ICE or CBP and not just some self-styled tough guy “patriots” doing whatever the hell they please? No way to know - and anything goes.

You are living in Lalaland. Alex Padilla was being escorted in a secure building by a member of the National Guard AND the FBI. One of them actually opened the door for him to enter into the room and yet he was still wrestled to the ground and handcuffed. You really think your town police are going to be able to stop this from happening if the FBI can’t?

USA Today had a good article describing what is happening at the tracks. The head of the NY Racing Commission is a business partner of Jared Kushner’s. He was assured there would be protection for racetrack workers, but the administration reneged on that protection. There is incredible fear in the racing world right now. Racing will collapse if ICE continues to nab track workers. Here is the article with more detail:

ICE raid on track workers sends shockwaves around racing, ‘puts horses at risk’

It looks like it will be significantly harder to get a Visa as well, with new requirements to make all social media accounts public for scrutiny.

I didn’t say anything about stopping it did I? Please show me where I did. We aren’t talking about what goes on in a “secure building”.
A secure building is a big difference from seeing someone wrestled around in some parking lot but masked desperados , as some are alleging.
I would hope anyone seeing that wouldn’t just walk on by without calling it as a possible crime in progress.
I’ve seen a couple ICE situations in my area recently and it was no secret who they were to anyone present. But if I saw it and wasn’t sure I for real would be calling. They can verify what’s going and who it is for those concerned or investigate a crime if they aren’t legit.
But you do you.

What is the point of calling if not to stop it? You just want a larger audience for the atrocities?

This basically translates to “call 911 for funzies” then. IMO.
