I don’t have a source to cite off the top of my head.

But I believe the numbers have shown that you would be likely to snag more people with criminal convictions in a random group of 84 Americans than in a random group of 84 immigrants.

I mean the meat packing industry also isn’t necessary per se, humans can be vegan or vegetarian. We don’t have to eat meat. (I am not a vegetarian or vegan just observing that meat is not necessary, it’s something we choose to consume, at least in the present day, more often than not.)

Also, the people working in racing, yes, the industry isn’t vital but it’s still their livelihood that they’re relying on to feed, house and clothe themselves and their families and while I was never a groom or barn worker, I saw enough of 'em in my season working on the backside, those folks aren’t the ones making the big business $$$ from the big business.

I looked it up and 1 in 3 American adults have a criminal record. That’s actually astounding. I have apparently led a very boring life.

ETA I didn’t believe it so I verified with a few sources before posting. 8 percent have felonies!!!

Here is a video of a man who followed ICE and reported it as a potential kidnapping and what happens. Me and a group of friends were shaken down once in Mexico by some militia/ cartel. One of my friends from that trip saw this and sent it to all of us and it really is EXACTLY how they acted, down to taking photos and implying they could find us later. One of them pulls a gun on the guy and everything. I’m seriously wondering where they are hiring these people after watching that. Maybe someone should try giving them $100 to see if they go away.

Wow. Same on all counts.

And thanks for looking it up!

Then they would probably ask for $1000.

I haven’t said anything about following anyone or even confronting them. You can call 911 without going anywhere near what’s going on. If I thought a crime might be in progress I sure wouldn’t be sashaying on over there.
If you follow federal agents doing their thing you kind of are opening the door to get confronted by them.

If an immigrant is here legally it doesn’t matter to me if he has a record or not as long as he is doing what ever the court has directed him to do , serving whatever time etc. in an ideal world people would just be decent and not have records at all but here we are.
I don’t associate with people with records but that’s not relevant to race, at least not to me.

Not saying that there are not bad apples everywhere, because there are, but there is a huge chasm in qualifications and training and hiring requirements between a federal agent with any agency and a corrections deputy in Buttcrack Indiana.

You mean like this guy?

Or this guy?

How about this winner?

so what are you thoughts about the immigrants who are in the process of applying and are getting kidnapped at their immigration hearings and at courthouses? The ones who ARE doing things the legal way?

And as an aside, illegal immigrants pay billions of dollars in taxes including social security which they cannot receive. " Undocumented immigrants play a crucial role in the U.S. economy, not only through their labor but also through substantial tax contributions that support public services and government programs. In 2023, households led by undocumented immigrants paid $89.8B in total taxes ."

As I said, bad apples in every group.

You have obviously never looked into or heard the millions of dollars horse racing puts into the economy have you. Even at the local level. For example, one guy I know rents land to grow hay on to sell primarily to the local harness racing horsemen. They are his biggest clients. Think about all the things you deal with with your one or two horses and multiply it by many. Feed stores, tack, trucks, vets. farriers, farrier supply stores. The money from the races put money back into the economy in many ways!

But then again, they raid during the QH meet, don’t want to piss off those bigger money TB owners do they?

I find it hard to believe anyone “undocumented” is paying into social security. They are of course paying sales taxes and gas taxes and whatever other taxes that they may not be able to avoid but I highly doubt they are paying into SS.
Of course some may be paying under fraudulent SS numbers, which is another issue.
I doubt that the truckload getting picked up in the morning down in the Home Depot parking lot are contributing to the tax base other than what I already mentioned.

Are there a lot of Hispanics working at the standardbred tracks?

Who cares. That is an awful argument to justify a lot of illegal behavior and exploitation.

It was in response to people saying illegal immigrants don’t pay taxes. They do. That is why people care. A 89 billion dollar deficit would be significant.
