Yes! If an employer is paying their workers in cash, chances are it’s not just immigrants. That’s a problem as old as taxes. Lots of US born folks don’t want to pay taxes at all.
I think that is very inappropriate. They should be released to a responsible adult and or released to child services until one can be found or for placement.
In this particular case I seem to recall reading the child was left with someone but I don’t feel
Like reading the article again.
I don’t know what’s on Fox News because I have never watched it. I don’t think I have ever watched anything on Fox period. But some here seem to watch it enough to know what is and isn’t on it.
As far as the insult part, that seems to be and has been tossed out quite frequently at various posters by various other posters . And not just here. A review of threads on CE shows it.
It’s really an unnecessary addition to a post and the intent is quite clear. The overall opinion of Fox News as held by some is quite clear.
*actually I have watched the legends and lies series with Kelsey Grammer on Fox business, which is actually quite good.
I’m glad you agree!
I was frankly shocked in a few of these that they left the children with a random adult who said they’d watch the kid, that’s how kids get taken. If they’re swarming one person with half a dozen cars they have to know there’s a kid in the car and should have child services or an actual police officer ready.
Indeed, and the leaders of the California Farm Bureau and other agribusiness organizations actively advocated for the internment of Japanese American farmers as part of a strategy to acquire their farms and possessions cheaply.
Those “political events” and the motivation behind them were apparent to Ennis: “The farmer-growers association going to Congress asked for getting rid of these people. This was very largely a movement by a lot of different people to use the opportunity to get the Japanese farmer off the West Coast . . . . They got all their land, they got thousands and thousands of acres of the best land in California. The Japanese were just pushed off the land!”
Anson unabashedly admitted as much to Taylor in the Saturday Evening Post: “We’re charged with wanting to get rid of the Japs for selfish reasons. We might as well be honest. We do. It’s a question of whether the white man lives on the Pacific Coast or the brown men. They came into this valley to work and they stayed to take over.”
The “I don’t watch Fox News” reminds me of a poster who claimed to be a VERY successful trainer and owner of Thoroughbred racehorses but NEVER named her “stable” or her “successful” horses.
NOT required here, of course, but it would lend some credence if people would cite WHERE they get their news/information, such as those who did and showed where the stories of ‘children getting let behind after a raid’ did.
JMO.
But why do that when you can “just trust me bro!”?
Hey, don’t get yourselves in a dither. Remember, this is exactly what some of us voted for!

Not the person this one’s directed at but in the spirit of things:
Major city newspaper (owned by Gannett) in my state
Associated Press
Statewide news outlet that is part of States Newsroom family of non-profits (https://statesnewsroom.com/)
Less frequently:
Propublica (like what they do but their articles are sometimes longer than I have time to sit and read)
The Guardian
19th News (https://19thnews.org/)
Even more rarely I’ll make a foray over to Mother Jones or something but that’s extremely rare.
I do listen to several podcasts but don’t treat them as hard, serious news sources even the handful that are more current events oriented or dips a toe into that territory. Plus I’m usually listening to them at the gym so I’m not actively consuming everything and tend to miss details b/c I’m focused on the workout. The one exception to a degree is the Reveal podcast by the Center for Investigative Reporting.
Yes, it’s interesting how some posters have no trouble linking credible sources for their information.
Others, not so much.
I don’t have a link hence why I said where I received the info from. Whether you choose to believe me or not is up to you.
They wouldn’t believe you if you added 100 separate links of sources. That type don’t even open them or they’ll say something like “yeah well I heard…”. Zero point in discussions, zero point in providing facts.
For sure. I started to look for links and type out a long response and then was like why am I wasting my time?
From the NBC story about this event.
““ICE officers conducted a vehicle stop and encountered an adult male drive and 13-year-old passenger—the adult was not the minor’s parent. The driver was an illegal alien and was taken into ICE custody. Officers helped the 13-year-old contact a parent. The parent was informed of the situation and the child’s location and declined to pick up their son. The parent confirmed that the residence was nearby and elected for the child to walk home within short walking distance,” the statement said.”
Well I don’t. Never have. I’m not really sure what difference it makes.
Yeah “a friend posted it on Facebook” ranks right up there for a news source with “Fox News said”’.
Well that certainly is some additional interesting information. Certainly doesn’t fit the popular narrative now does it /s
Thank you for saying this.
I don’t think anyone disagrees with arresting hard-core criminals who are here illegally. They deserve due process like anyone else, and it is guaranteed in the constitution. My question: why are only “brown” people being apprehended? What about illegal Russians, Czechs, and people from other European countries?
ICE is picking the low hanging fruit. Track workers, the ice cream guy who has sold from a cart for 20 years, the mother in Texas with two young kids, one who has leukemia. (They have been in detention for over a month, and the boy can’t see his doctor.) According to NBC, only 6% of the undocumented murders/rapists have been arrested. This all theater. It needs to stop.
The NBC News story you cite does not use the phrase “illegal alien.” No legitimate news organization would use that phrase. They use the phrase “undocumented immigrant.”
