There’s always something that you wish was around but it hasn’t been created yet? What product do you wish someone would create and market?
a feed that when eaten by a horse produces golden bars of at least 24K
Fearless Spray-On. Used like fly-spray, this would make your horse absolutely bomb-proof, perfect for trail riding.
The products I most want to create have been on the market, but were changed for the worse.
I would also create a new feed scoop. Oh, yeah, we already did! My husband makes them for me, and once someone uses them, it is hard for them to go back to what is on the market.
A wash or spray that would allow bot eggs to be removed by water. Instead of having to use the bit comb to brush off each one. Just spray on before the ride and wash off after.
I want a muzzle with a remote control for the grazing-opening. I would like to be able to program the hole to open fully or partially and close fully or partially at the schedule of my choosing. It would also need to be light weight, stay on, and not cause muzzle rubs.
I want a feed product that provides long-stem fiber, is low sugar and starch, convenient to feed, palatable but not delicious, and nutritionally balanced so that a horse can have free-choice access to it 24/7 without over eating.
Alternatively, I want a slow-feed hay feeder that you fill once a day and can be programmed to feed the day’s worth of hay in four (or more!) equal servings.
From these wishes, you can probably guess I have one of those too-easy easy keepers; and I’m struggling with how to keep him both happy and healthy.
A fly mask that stayed on is my current biggest wish.
disposable, close-fitting medicine boots that will last three days.
Fly spray that actually works and lasts as long as it says on the bottle. Or maybe just a fly proof horse.
Honesty.
A plastic pitchfork with smaller space between the tines so the little pieces of manure don’t fall through but the shavings do. I tried the fork they sell for pelleted bedding because it does have the tines a bit closer together but the basket concept on it makes it very unwieldy.
I also want a feed supplement that would allow the manure to come out in easy to pick up plastic bags.
A “roomba” bush hog.
Omg I want a rooms bush hog!
I’d love a horse sized auto feeder with supplement dispensing. I have one for my cats that has a big hopper on top and it releases measured food at programmed times.
If love a tack “car wash”
Bit scrubber like the glass washer bartenders use so I’m not hand scrubbing bits every day
Spray on poultice
Glue you cloud spray on a loose or thrown shoe to tide you over
Some sort of bubble wrap mechanism that prevents all injuries. At this point, though, I’ll settle for some sort of boot or wrap that prevents all soft tissue injuries below the carpus/tarsus.
One of those long fringe fly masks that fits on the halter, but I want it to fit on the horse without the halter http://www.saddler.co.uk/prodpics/ready/f/fly_fringe_for_horses_large.jpg
Best thing I ever put on a horse, but I don’t turn out with a halter any more so they’ve got to figure out away to put it on a horse without a halter. I was thinking, like a weave track with combs or something?

LOL, I’m with you on the Romba Bush hog!
Now, they used to make an automatic grain dispenser but I don’t know if it is still available. I think people found it didn’t work with a molasses laden sweet feed but was OK with pellets and oats.
For bit scrubber, just dunk your bit in the horses’s water bucket and immediately wipe dry.
Instant fat removal on a horse.
Wave a majik wand (like a swiffer duster) and the cresty neck is gone!
A quarter sheet made of fly sheet material, but with very particular specs.
–the Textilene/stiffer kind not the floppy nylon kind (critical for keeping the sheet just slightly up and off the horse’s rump, which is important during B-52 bomber season)
–designed to be removable during the ride. I propose “attached at the girth billets with velcro,” not around the rider’s legs. Attaching around the rider’s legs that just creates pulling and static + potentially and a big gaping hole right behind the saddle, which is the most dangerous place for a B-52 bomber to land on my horse. It’s critical that the sheet be removable because it’s HOT in the summer and sometimes the sheet needs to come off.
–a light, non-heat-attracting and non-bug attracting color. In other words, not black, which is the dumbest possible color for a summer fly sheet (Cashel fly armor, I’m looking at you)
–an intelligent tail cord system. In a perfect world, I’d like something with a velcro quick-release in case the sheet snags on something on the trail. (Amigo fly armor, I’m looking at you and your idiotic plastic-clip-plus-plastic-covered-bungee tail cord)
Yeah, I’ve given this a lot of thought.
I actually own a fly quarter sheet just like this, but it’s a discontinued product from Schneider’s and I’m dreading the day that it falls apart. Someone like The Clothes Horse needs to pick up this idea and run with it.
Other products I wish someone would market:
–A better saddle lock/use deterrent system. Short of investing in one of those racks with a built-in locking mechanism, there’s still not a great way to lock your saddle to prevent unauthorized use by unscrupulous barnmates. I’m thinking something roughly analogous to the shoplifting deterrent devices in clothing stores, but you’d have to find something that didn’t damage the saddle if it deployed. I’m thinking something that locks onto the stirrup bar(s) and makes it impossible to attach stirrups and is bulky enough to deter riding without stirrups.
–If you could figure out a slow feeder mechanism for soaked hay cubes, there’s potentially a market for that. (Think horses on stall feed whose ulcers are curbed by a steady stream of soaked alfalfa cubes, horses who are prone to choke but also easy keepers and it’s an area where hay bales are very scarce, etc.)
–I’ve said it on this forum before, but I’ll say it again: a plastic or silicon, injection-molded, reusable version of Smartpak containers. Yes, I am well aware of Gladware and other container systems, thanks. But some people would still prefer the separated wells and similar dimensions to Smartpak with the convenience of DIY.
–This is going to sound insane, but I don’t think all that far into the future: something similar to Google Glass that allows instructors to auto-record and video-record a riding lesson simply by running a recorder while they teach. Since the Google Glass is already looking wherever you’re looking, it wouldn’t be necessary to babysit the camera. Yes, there are still logistical issues here like “How to keep the dust off the glass?” and “What if the rider is so far away that you can’t focus?” but I still think this idea has potential.
–Although they technically do exist, maternity breeches is a very weak category in terms of offerings. Yes, I realize it’s a niche product that doesn’t suit a huge audience. But if somebody would build an show-worthy version of, say, the Irideon Issentials Topline Tights, they could make some dough.

–There’s definitely room for innovation in the fly whisk. For Pete’s sake, someone please design one with a better/more ergonomic handle, more fun color options (so that all the teens and kids buy them), maybe some customization options for which hair tassel you want to use that day, etc. Maybe this DOES exist and I’m just not reading the right catalogs? Surely the endurance or trail people have done this…
A horsey pacifier. This is for those that must play with something…the crossties, lead rope, reins, etc. (not a substitute for mouthing on humans…that’s a no no). Just pop it in and have the horse entertain itself while you do whatever you need to (groom, tack up, etc).

Is this what you’re looking for?
And now for some things I would like:
If they can’t make something that prevents horses from injury all together  I would like for them to invent a scanner that you can use on your horse to find out how in the heck they got injured!
Something like fly predators that eats no-see-ums!! Or along those lines, a cure for sweet itch.
Horseshoes that don’t come off.
A saddle that changes to truly fit EVERY horse.
Self cleaning stall/paddock/pasture.
That is definitely not all but I could go on for days.
