If you were a horse for sale

15h 10 year old grade mare. Built like an Appendix QH (athletic and uphill but with a powerful hind end). Easy keeper. Excellent hauler. Stands well for farrier. Doesn’t love the vet but will be bribed with treats. No maintenance required.

Excellent all-around horse. Zero kid experience, but a good husband horse if the rider is kind and confident. Can be opinionated but usually game. Is particular about her turnout buddies and does best with a balance of turnout and stall time.

Currently dabbling in low-level endurance–she’s as fast as a turtle, but she’ll get you home safe and sound. Has previous experience as a sport horse at mid/high levels, but due to time constraints is out of shape and rusty (and she seems to prefer the easy life).

18.1h 14-year-old bay german mare. Large boned. Quirky and somewhat ring sour but will work herself to death for the right person. Terrible x-rays, needs considerable maintenance, expensive shoes, pads, and saddle fit to stay sound. Does not do hot weather, drilling, or hunger well. Kind and gentle on the ground but does not suffer fools gladly during work.

May I sell my husband horse next?

Weathered older ranch horse. Mostly sound with good feet.

Been there done that, to the point where he is of the mind there is nothing he can’t do, even when not qualified. Heads up for this trait in certain novel situations.

Great with river crossings and mountain trails. Will pack, haul and has fair to middling ground manners. Skilled at keeping dogs in line.

Being sold with his old worn out tack as he balks at new equipment. May pin his ears at times but a good egg all round.

Any reasonable offer will be considered.

LOL this is hilarious.

Mature medium grade pony. Athletic, sound with maintenance and shoes, but will not pass vet. Can be lazy unless in regular work. Can be barn sour, does not load well but will trailer once you get her on.

Heehee - a friend on FB saw a horse ad I just posted and asked me if I could write his dating profile in the same vein. We had fun.

17h 13 y/o grey WB/TB cross mare. Not very mare-ish, has been called a gelding in a mare suit. Needs to be kept in a program, or she gets bored and starts destroying things. Needs a solid intermediate rider, not for a beginner. Strong classical dressage background, but needs more show miles, and absolutely no talent over fences. Prefers to work in the arena, trails aren’t her thing. Hard keeper. Prefers solo turnout as she doesn’t really blend well with the herd, and likes living in a stall. Good for the farrier and dentist, has a “thing” about needles. Not a broodmare prospect.

Easy keeper older chestnut mare. Needs joint supplements. Will go all day and half the night, patient and willing as long as the rider tries. Cow horse bred looks, (short and strong), good at a lot of things but an expert in none.

Oh, we’re doing SOs?

Mine is FTGH also. Unbroke, unhandled, ungelded. No papers.

Chestnut mare. Older than she looks but vets clean and stronger than she looks. Does not like children, loud adults, or most women; probably best with a quiet man. Trained for gun fire and dogs, but doesn’t like showground chaos or crowding. Prefers trails to ring work; but will dutifully work in the ring if you make it interesting. Happy to live outside in all weather. Happy to live alone. No shoes needed. Great fox hunter, cross country jumper. Classical dressage background, no western training.

18h 12 year old German WB stallion (unproven as a stud). As athletic as they come but unfortunately has very little formal training. Seems to thrive on working hard all day and will look good doing it. Eager to please, never in a bad mood. Does not act studdish when out in public.

Not the best hauler, but never fully refuses. Does require shoes and comes with a big grocery bill.

Price greatly reduced due to an injury to his knee that required two surgeries. Currently sound but will likely require future maintenance. Otherwise very clean.

Don’t let this prospect pass you by–price will increase with training.

Old pony mare that has been there, done that.
Has heaves and a tricky heart, no other maintenance.
Still strong as an ox in a pinch, will pull its weight when necessary.
Of questionable hearing and sight, but very calm, never spooky.
Good in stall or out, gets along with everyone, but does best pastured alone.
Schoolmaster, suitable for beginners to advanced, but now only for short, slow rides.
No push ride, still likes to work, comes with all necessary supplies.

He is. Super unusual. An anomaly. His siblings look to need their stalls stripped daily.

Husband horse: Grey, BIG draft horse, unknown breeding. Not for beginners, has had a difficult history. Sound with regular chiropractic care, will need some maintenance. Loves routine, fully trained as a logging and farm draft, but little other experience. Green broke to riding but willing if you explain calmly, learns fast. Excellent in the stall and good ground manners, good for farrier and vet. Seems to get on with both geldings and mares.

Older sorrel Swedish mare, 16.1 Will pass vet check but will need maintenance. Easy keeper. Likes shoes. Can handle beginners, but prefers experienced, quiet riders. Likes to be in stall, tolerates pasture for 1-2 hours a day. Keeps stall relatively tidy. Not mare-ish but doesn’t like stupid people.

Young 16.2hh leggy mare, lightly built and well-muscled but a bit of a hard keeper - she’s got an appetite! She’s ready to start her career as an eventer or jumper, very forward-thinking and has no quit. Well-started and sensitive to cues but can be anxious under saddle, needs reassuring rider with a quiet hand and seat. Honest to a fault and very brave with the right rider, but can be a bit jumpy on the ground. Not mareish, gets along great with geldings and mares alike. Prefers a balance of group turnout and stall time; very clean in a stall. Not good with kids, experienced riders only.

UTD on all care; needs wolf teeth pulled at next dental. Great to handle for vet, farrier, etc. Sound and athletic, but carries tension and may benefit from chiro/massage. Will pass PPE.

17h, 14 y/o, grade gelding, long skinny legs with a somewhat padded belly. No maintenance but getting creaky. Sensitive in nature but can be quite lazy. Must be talked into things, will be obstinate if pushed too hard. Does not like change!!! Used to be athletic, probably best in a strict program. One owner horse. Requires beer on the weekend. (ad for DH)

these are great!
Me: 17.2 mare. very athletic. very opinionated. competitive in any discipline. not spooky or reactive. boss mare in the pasture. needs 24/7 turnout. will crib/weave when left indoors. not good with baths. has kissing spines and needs hock injections.

SO: grade quarter horse type. 15.2 but everybody assumes he’s 16.1 - takes up a lot of leg. one of those faces you’ll be happy to see hanging over the stall door every morning! full of personality! would be a good games horse. or maybe rodeo? mounted archery? 100% sound, but hope you have the vet on speed dial, because he will invent fun, new reasons to call, and often. must not interrupt his daily routine, but he’s happy to to try new things. Very trainable. $100,000,000,000 non-negotiable.
