Ignore function is (hopefully) temporarily not working

There is a bug in the vBulletin software that the developers of the software are working to resolve. The Ignore list doesn’t even currently work on the vBulletin site, so we’re not alone!

Hopefully, they’ll resolve it soon and then there will be less tongue-biting going on throughout the forum. We appreciate your efforts to ignore posters you’d rather not deal with, while the software isn’t functioning to help you.

Is there a secret hand shake or something that makes the Ignore function work? I have two test posters set to be ignored to no avail, at least the entered posters are remaining in the list but… worky? no, as their posts are clearly visible

Clanter, did you read what Mod1 said?? Known problem with the vBulletin software which is being worked on…

I quoted the first part of the original post so you can read it again, because you clearly missed the content the first time thru.

Thank you Moderator for update. No doubt all the glitches will be worked out eventually. Some of us appreciate free access to Coth and these attempts to make it even better.

Hope the ignore function comes back soon.I’ve got some posters i really would like on ignore, find them highly annoying and getting hard to not say something.

Hope so as well. Free time for me is rare these days, and I was bummed to not be able to ignore a certain few. Hopefully by next weekend.

Just to set some expectations, this version of the software was released by vBulletin in November 2016. While the ignore feature certainly may be fixed by this weekend, I wouldn’t bet money on it

The ignore feature should be on the top of things to fix list,it’s very, very important to our sanity. Or should i say my sanity.:winkgrin:

I find it easy to just ignore what I don’t care for, don’t need ignore functions, can ignore fine on my own.

I think the Moderator stated somewhere that they are working on all of that.
I expect we will soon have that restored, as it seems to be important.

Per my OP, the ignore button has a bug at the software level…as in, it came broken from “the factory.”

The people who develop the software we use are aware of the issue and are presumedly working on fixing it, but this function is not something we can fix on our end.

We definitely appreciate the desire to have the issue fixed.

It’s odd though, I had a few people on ignore before and I can see all their posts now - except for one person. I can’t even see if she posted, only if someone else quotes her.

3 months later and it still does not exist?

This is not an issue that we have control over, unfortunately. It’s a bug at the software level that has been reported to the software developers.

still no word on when it might be fixed from the developers? Is it possible to ask the developers to offer an alternative?

I understand it’s beyond the control of the COTH powers-that-be, but it would be a LOT nicer (and would make moderating a fair bit easier) if we had the ignore function back!

I’ve let the developers know that ignore feature functionality remains a top request for our community. I don’t know if there’s much more they can do at this time, but the message has been passed on!

It’s not just the Ignore function that’s not working. A lot of other functions aren’t working either. Besides all of those, there is something that is slowing my typing on this site only. I can type half a dozen words before the first one even shows up in my post. This isn’t happening on any other sites so figure it must be another COTH glitch. Lots of them with the current software.

I’m guessing ‘Ignore’ is never going to happen, right?
