I'm a horse owner again *Pics Added*

Thanks, clanter. He is very expressive and probably the most talkative horse I’ve been around.

He’s gorgeous! Congrats! As someone who took 17 years off from not just horse ownership, but horses, then leased my horse before buying, I know how momentous this is!

15 is nothing. I foresee many, many happy years for you two.
ETA: My last one went to 38, so 15 seems like a baby.

Wowza, what a hunk! Please give him a peppermint from his COTH auntie.

P.S, my best boy is 15 and it’s looking like it’s our best year together so far – and we’ve had 9 incredible years before that too.

Very nice horse. To quote one of my favorite lines from Raiders of the Lost Ark " you chose wisely"

Thanks again to everyone! You’re all so kind and encouraging!

Erinmeri, you are so right. Coming back to horse ownership and riding after a long break is momentous. It was just so much easier when I was younger. I didn’t worry about all the ‘what-ifs’ and I was braver and bounced better, and I just went out and did it. Now I worry and fret (trying to get better about that-I know it does no good), but now I am so much more aware of all the things that can go wrong. And it’s a struggle to get back to where you were, riding-wise. I’m still not there, and maybe never will be again. But I am still loving it and having fun, and I guess that’s the main thing.

Thanks, Fiesta01. I hope Dudley has that many good years!

I’m really enjoying my first weekend as Dudley’s owner (horse mom / servant), even though the weather has not been particularly co-operative. I hope everyone else is having a good weekend too!
