I'm on Foal Watch!

i think she has two stocking and one sock. At least she doens’t have a bald face, but my…that blaze is wide and crooked. So ‘mustang-y’. I’ve never liked Rizada’s looks. I think Quigley’s long legs came through again though. And, well…i just hope she didn’t inherit her mother’s quarter horse big butt. She is an improvement on her dam.

No I mean the front stocking - it looks like it only goes around the outside, but the inside has no color!

Oh. I think the white mark only on the front. It doesn’t wrap all the way around.

That’s pretty neato. I like it!

You know, being a mustang and all, it is probably not a coincidence that you weren’t around for the birth. Rizada may have waited. (i.e., not relaxed enough until no one was around.)

And it makes sense that little miss Pippi Longstocking is zippy. Gotta run from the predators, right?

Nice new filly! She certainly takes after her momma. Don’t feel guilty about sleeping in, especially since everything went just as it should.

Well… you got the uneventful event by sleeping through it. LOL

Pee-face is adorable, and I love the filly’s blaze. Do you have a name for her yet?

Rizada is a GOOD MOM! But she’s not so sure i’m ok with her foal. I was in there for about 5 minutes at a time, probably 5 times today. And the last little session Rizada came to me for carrot bits (i had been putting them in a bowl midway between her corner and my chair). At that point her foal, smelled my foot  Tomorrow is a brand new day. And i expect it will be more serene.

They’re both so cute. A fun spring and summer for you watching them.

Will they be able to be together at some point? Or are mamas not okay with that.

Brenna is a stark raving bitch! But yes, i will put them together. And soon too. I have a 5 acre pasture they can meet in. I want Roslyn to get going on her feet better. She isn’t even 24 hours old yet. Then i’ll take them out to the pasture two at a time. Rizada and Roslyn first, then i’ll walk Brenna out on a lead and turn her loose but will monitor them closely all day. When we all come back i’ll separate them again. After three or four days i think it will be safe to allow them to come and go at will and to have an open barn to share. Playing all that by ear…

Unless genetics has changed since I was in high school, chances would be 50% black, 50% chestnut.

Here is Roslyn, she’s finally come-around! Mom, Rizada has relaxed quite a bit since yesterday, and interestingly enough, her ‘bubble’ is MUCH wider than my other mare, Brenna, has… even at 6 days Brenna’s comfort bubble is only about 6 feet…with or without me being in there with them!
