Impressive Barns/Stables

Yes, Pam, and have you seen the 5 star hotel they built that looks like a giant sail?

I’ll second MB Stark’s remark about Cellular Farm. A beautiful facility through and through, from the enormous stalls to the clocktower.

msj–I attended the last steeplechase meeting at Rolling Rock, sometime around 1983? 1984? Early 80s, anyway. I know nothing about the hunter show, though. The property is just beautiful, and I remember how depressing it was to know at the time that the track would be covered in condos within a few years.

Can’t forget about all the unbelievable farms here in Wellington (yes they sit idle for 6 months…<sigh> ). Heritage, Acres Wild, Denny McGill’s, Starwyn, Warm Wind, Lassergut (wow what a nice grand prix field), Deeridge, Turtle Lane, Ashmont, Sagamore, All Seasons/Uphill, Outback, White Birch, Black Watch, WINDSOME, ETC!!!

where do people get this money???

“If all goes well, you’ve overlooked something.”
“Humpty Dumpty was pushed.”

I’ve never been to any of these barns, but check out what this company can build for you (if you got the bucks…)http://www.kingconstruction.org/index.html#index

the photos take a while to load, but their worth seeing. look at their photo gallery. I want, I want, I want!!!

Home of some famous warmblood stallions. I am surprised not to see it mentioned as I scanned over all the pages.

True Prospect farm (home to Phillip Dutton & his Olympic horses) near West Grove PA. Owned by Nina Gardner (hope I spelled that last name right). I love the indoor there–I always said to my daughter “if they quit using this as an indoor, they could make it into a church, it looks like one”.

& yes, I vote for the barns at USET, as someone else mentioned. When my daughter went there for a young riders clinic with Jimmy Wofford & her mare was stabled in the main barn, I went out & bought a disposable camera just to take pictures of the beautiful stalls!

Hey Erin-

I can agree with you about Rolling Acres. I did forget about that.
When my girlfriend went to UF, she moved her jumper stallion to Tinker at Rolling Acres. She used to come back and visit and tell us about that barn. I checked it out myself last year when I was looking for a working student kinda deal. It was a long shot but what did I have to lose? I didnt get to meet Tinker, but I met the barn manager and got to walk though the barn. It was so clean it looked like the barn was two days old!
Unfortunatly, he did let me know that Tinkers schedule was full. Besides, you could only have a lesson on your own horse, and at the time didnt have one.
Ok, rambling…

The Moran’s Brushwood Stables in Malvern PA is absolutely gorgeous…HUGE lush green fields with waterers and run-ins the size of my garage, spotless, eat-off-the-floor broodmare barn made of stone with wood accents and massive foaling stalls (see the Marymont Farm pic on the King Construction page and make that fancier…you’ll get the idea), and absolutely the cutest little “million dollar yearlings” you’ll ever see I think my horse feels shown up just being turned out next to those little foalies!

Looking at the Oldenburg Farm webpage…hot DAAAAAANG that place is nice. Nicer than some hotels I’ve stayed at. I want to know how much the board is…like that would ever happen - I’m SO not moving to Wisconsin

Ah towns, which are made up of houses, which after all are just large huts, which are made out of wood, which is made out of trees, and - hang on - trees are bigger than huts so - there goes that theory…

I hear the Gonda’s near barn is amazing…they even have a petting zoo with various miniature animals!

Ok just found out that you can tour Roberts Quarter horses on line

www.robertsquarterhorses.com

Take the farm tour it’s spectacular sp?

In Ont I would have to say Kingridge Stables it is beautifull and has an elevator in the barn

I will look for the article this weekend. Will let you know if I find it.

Although I never got to go there, I know so many of the folks who worked there that I have seen it vicariously!

I hope to do a story on it for my Towerheads “history” column in the future.

My vote in Ontario, Canada, home of many BB victors , is Jay Haye’s barn - Northlands. Beautiful woodwork, well laid out, nice big stalls, beautiful grounds with a derby course.

Millstreet in Ireland, in Cork, is also mighty impressive – though less a boarding facility than show venue.

Merry, any book worth hard cover purchase, must include a Canadian flavour – if only so you can venture here with your photographer and we can meet, so that I may remind you how I snatched that crown off your head!

it won’t be for a little while, as I have a partially completed article on the American Jumping Derby that I’m going to finish first. But it will be the one after that…

A stunning facility that pictures do not do justice to. www.devonwoodec.com

Main barn wraps around an indoor full court ( dressage) with Teak panels and wonderful wood kick panels. At the “A” end of the arena under the entrance is an incredible mural of horse ( multiple views) in movement. The colors in the mural match the tones of the teak. The mural was featured on the cover of the COTH in past year.

Connected to the entrance is a warm up court. Both of these are covered. I believe there is now an observation room above “C” Drive in farrier and vet stalls / rooms. “Bloks” footing, brass and iron and teak in the main barn asile. Each stall has an outdoor minipaddock attached.

Arenas outdoors. One state of the art sand arena with a water table under it. Sensors test the footing and adjust the water table to add or pull out water. Tiered grass levels up and away allow confy seating and room for tents.

Other rings each with a different prospect, including one back in the wooded area, makes you feel far away from everything.

Announcers tower, show office and room for unknown number of covered stalls for show visitors. Pond, waterfall no visable neighbors. Electronic scoring and instant results.

The weekend after 9/11 I volunteered here for the oregon dressage championships. Beautiful peaceful place healed some hurt.

The best part of this venue ( did I mention the vendors area) Is the amazing Ratner family who built this labor of love. Careful thought into every detail. Hard working parents and kids make YOU feel like you are the most important person on the property. They work hard for dressage in Rgion 6 and I for one lend my support where I can. They have stepped up and presented us with a venue to replace our sad loss of Fox Ridge Farm in Washington.

This will be the venue for the Junior Dressage Championships in August.

The ancient Greeks did not write obituaries. They only wanted to know if you had a passion.

Ernie and Betty Oare’s Barn in Warrenton is just stunning. It looks like a mansion set upon a hill from the road. The centerfold ad they took out announcing its completion in COTH last year doesn’t do it justice.

~~Come on, try a little, nothing is forever. There’s got to be somewhere better than In The Middle…~~

Hmmm…I can’t think of a particular impressive stable that I have been too. There were a couple in Ocala when I was horse shopping and the barn itself wasn’t impressive, but the horses inside quiet were.
Pretty much anything near the show grounds in Wellington was impressive enough for me.

Spaz-mono huh? Eck!
I had that about two years ago. I was bed ridden for about three monthes. Quit school, took a leave of absence from work, pratically no contact with the outside world. (Hope this doesnt bring ya down or anything.)
Whats your poor horsie gonna do??

Previous home of Etienne and Christine Traurig. Built by the Haas’ before Elise went to the East Coast.

Gorgeous facility. Acres and acres of grass with an outdoor sand jumping arena, beautiful dressage court with short end completely mirrored, part of long side at “E” mirrored. Grass turnouts, many. A grooming area that puts my whole house to shame. 32 stalls, ea with individual water consumption monitors in feed rooms. Full Vet room that most vet clinics would die for. Commercial quality laundry facilities, and get this a Sub Zero frig in the kitchenette. Ok, so I don’t get out much. I was impressed.

And the attention to detail. The whole structure looked like Town and Country. Every where you looked the flowers were gorgeous and lovely little teak benches to sit on.

Needless to say they had to drag me kicking and screaming back into the truck!!

Last I heard it was on the market. Now where did I put that Powerball ticket…

Oh geez… what, are they bidding against Michael Jackson for exotic animals?

But do tell. What exact city is that located in, and what is her place called?
