In memory of November Rain
I am right now watching the '98 WEG Showjumping from Rome.
Found the tape I made of it [off Animal Planet] in ‘98 as I was packing today.
The course is 5’7" max height fences with a 7’ spread Oxer.

What are the chances November Rain will be on it?
Would that be too much or what?
That would be cool, let us know if you see him…

What cool horse, he looks like, from his record he had a lot of owners and was a lot of riders Junior Jumper the past few years…How did you find out who he was and his past?

The irony is how fast people’s preceptions of others change, the last recorded owners were supported when the junior quite riding for a well known barn in NY…and the barn and trainer were literally thrown under the bus by people here and on other websites, for saying things about the young rider…which is fine…everyone is entitled to an opinion…but now the tables have turned and I wonder if some of the people here realize this was the same person they were defending a few years ago…not that it matters…wrong behavior is wrong…but you all have to admit there is a certain irony to it.

I had the honor of taking care of Tm a couple of winters ago. I loved him. I have not read all 22 pages of this thread but i will. I am very happy to hear that he has a home. If he gets to a point where he needs another home, please let me know!!
When he came to our barn I knew that he was better and smarter than most people that i know.

I am glad that he has a good home. please give him hugs and kisses from me

TM? Was that this horse’s barn name? What did that stand for?

Where can I find this proposal?

I would be interested in reading it.

TM is the brand on Dux’s shoulder, which represents the stud he’s from.

Hey, just wanted to let everyone know that my barn had TM a fews years back and he really was a great horse. He did the low a/os and from what I remember hearing, he was really fun and truly amazing. He really was sweet, and I’m glad someone made his situation known.

This is weird: Last week, after this thread appeared and I’d read through it, I coincidentally started riding an older horse at my barn. “Dutchy” is an 18-year-old chestnut Australian TB who has done the jumpers forever. My trainer has had him for years and since she no longer competes in the jumpers she leases him out to various people and he typically returns home in the winter.
Reading this thread made me feel very sentimental about this crotchety old chestnut man that I’m riding. I’ve got no idea how fancy he was in his day, but I’m thankful to have a chance to ride him and glad he still does, and always will, have a nice home, even in his advanced years.
In any case, grooming him today, I just happened to take note of his brand. He’s also got a TM, tho I can’t remember the numbers involved.

Ask the barn…

What his registered name is. Regarding the brand, the “TM” should be inside of a horse shoe, if it’s the same stud. On the opposite shoulder should be a 2nd brand with a couple of numbers. That will represent the year he was born, and the # foal he was born to that stud, in that year. If you don’t know his registered name, then you have to join Australia’s equestrian federation and search by state. It can be done.

Fortunately, someone recognized him on this forum, and it expedited the identification process.

Glad to hear your boy has a permanent home, I’m sure he deserves it

Pages for his album

Anyone who has had the pleasure of knowing Dux/November Rain, I would love for you to write your personal experiences and send it in. Personal notes would be great, and specific dates are helpful. As I’ve mentioned, I’m working on an album, and I would like to put pages in chronological order to trace all of the stops this wonderful boy has made during the last 22 years.

Photos and anything else you are willing to share will be hugely appreciated.

What an amazing story! I can’t believe it, though I can. Kudos to you for allowing him to have a wonderful home!

I was actually telling someone about the Hoarse horse last week.

I manage a lesson barn in DC and we had him in on trial as a school horse. This was in the winter of 2007/08. He was sent with the name TM, which is his brand, and im sure why he ws called that.(horse people are so obvious sometimes) We had him through a friend of Cara’s. We found him to be pretty stiff in the hind end especially is he had to stay in. Not at all bad for who he is what he did and his age. We have limited turnout and small stalls and no indoor. We thought that he would benefit more from a place with big turnout and big stalls. He is AMAZING. I loved him instantly. I have always been a groom or barn manager, never an owner. He came here not long after i had surgery on my neck so i was not really able to ride. I would groom him everyday knowing that he deserved and appreciated it. I do not get attached to very many horses but him, he is something special and he knows it. I used to groom him daily. His signature “non-whinny” was really charming as well.

I know i should have pictures of him somewhere. I hope i can find them. I m sure they are lost in digital land somewhere. My vet should also have some info on him. I’ll see what i can dig up!

Please take good care of Tm. Please count me as a person to turn to if you need anything for him.

Oh. he was also real thin when we got him. I have a feeling he needed his teeth done. That is another thing that upsets me about show/sale horses. I feel they get passed around a lot and miss out on things like the dentist and vaccines and deworming. I try to do everyone that comes through my barn.

I found a photo from when he was at Meadowbrook In DC. I believe late 2007/ 08?

I’m like way late in this discussion… Does anyone remember where the horse was located?

There are 22 pages filled with info.

ILUVDRUMMERS- He still hasn’t gotten his voice back and when I picked him up he sure had a lot to say!! I was afraid he was choking at first but he would just go right back to eating his hay.

He is in great hands now and his greatest worry will most likely be along the lines of “When do I get more of that hay from the second cutting?”.

I think that is the hardest thing for horses that get passed down, aside from a valid coggins, there is definitley more chance for them to not have as much vet attention, unless of course they are lame and not able to work. It’s just sad that their life becomes about the money they can earn and not about the animal. I would be naive to think otherwise but it just makes me sad because they give us so much yet many times they are just used. I am so happy for Tazer, she has a real gem there and he Dux/November Rain/TM lucked out, as it should be. It is so interesting to see how many people knew this horse and how everyone said he was a gentleman. Great story! I would love to see the scrap book sometime.

I was told that he had throat surgery because he was a roarer. I m guessing he had some breathing issues that made the surgery necessary. That is his voice. The kids here used to love to feed him because he was very vocal and his voice is so funny
