Individual Showjumping- Spoilers to come

SO HAPPY! GO CANADA!

The people in my office are now asking why I’m all teary eyed. Way to go Hickstead and Eric! I don’t think I’ve ever seen anyone so elated with a round. He totally deserves to win…

This music is killing me… I guess it’s better than your standard “Please Hold” music!

Hooray Canada! Hooray Eric and Hickstead! It has been so long since we have been at the podium!

I also cannot watch. So am going by comments. Also have one question which may be dumb on my part.

But why is there a jump-off for bronze and then silver, gold.

Shouldnt the top 3 scores be ranked accordingly. Of course if there was a tie for 3rd then jump-off. But., I would think you would jump of, if needed for Gold first. then re-rank after 1st place was decided. If there was a tie after re-ranking then jump-off for remainding medals. Again I cant see it so maybe thats what they are doing. I guess I am confused that we dont know Gold or Silver yet.

Does that make sense. like if rider B and C jumped off for silver and rider C won. then B would automatically be bronze. But if you did the bronze jump-off first, where would that leave rider B.

Ok I am making no sense. Someone just explain to me where we are in regards to final medal standings.

THanks.

Wow, not much love for Rolf-Goran around here.
That guy is one of the most underappreciated riders in the world.

Someone pointed out on the “Went Right” thread that the course designers were from the American side of things, and that might have had something to do with the results. Our riders are more used to this type course, since they ride courses from both designers all the time.

Comment could be spot on.

Man, what I wouldn’t give to have a jump crew that large at my show. LOL Wow, they have that course torn down in like, 5 minutes.

Nope, McLain did not have to be quite that reckless to the last fence as he already had a good time by taking the inside turn over the bushes. He went a little wide on turn and gallop to the last fence. He could have been much more effecient with his turn and stayed forward with balance to the last fence.
Beezie showed him how to do it the correct way.

They only had a two person jump-off vs. a several person jump-off which can really affect strategy.

Hard 2 type. Moist eye tissues…

What a marvelous group!!! Don’t forget to congratulate the Ninja and his Swedish Bengstonnervesofsteelunderawfulconditions!

Just ducky medals!!!

Two horses were tied in first place with double clear rounds. They jump off to decide 1-2
Seven horses were tied in 3rd place with 4 faults, they jump off for the bronze.

Yahoo Canada…

Did you all hear Beezie when she came out of the ring? She said “That was fun!!” Hee.

There were only 2 riders/horses that jumped double clear rounds, so they jump off for the gold, and the loser gets the silver, they were the 2 best of the entire class.

There were many horse/riders tied with 4 faults, they all had to jump off for the bronze medal.

Actually he did have to because his final time still wasn’t quite fast enough. He had to go flat out to have a shot. Authentic pretty much got to the same distance and was able to squeak over it. You could be making the same comments about Beezie right now but her horse was able to save that one for her.

2 were tied with 0 faults for gold
7 were tied with 4 faults for bronze.

Which made the bronze jump-off a little bit more exciting, IME! Beezie had a tough job to do.

Thanks! I knew I was missing something.

Congratulations to Beezie!!! Awesome! I’m so excited for her.

Anyone notice that the two who jumped off for Gold had the exact same time down to the 100th of a second?! What the difference a rail makes.

Um, actually his time was just a fraction under MMB’s after crashing through the fence, the extra time to actually get OVER it would have put him too slow.
