<smile>…and we’re thrilled to be standing him for Manuforti for the 2010 breeding season again. He really is a stunning animal! Nice to see you here, Simone!
Kathy, please give Flynn a big hug from me and an “atta boy, Dad!” from his son, Ollie! We are very happy to hear he’s doing well again this year.
We also have a daughter of TOTB, an approved RIDSH mare, who is the epitome of a good Irish mare - sweet, stout, sane and sound, jump the moon and gentle as a kitten - though our trainer says she’s a Ferrari in a fluffy suit
The great mind and the athleticism of this family can’t be denied, and it’s comes down the generations - Flynn’s granddaughters, our Ollie’s first crop, are spectacular fillies, the best we have ever gotten, and that’s saying something.
Welcome, Simone!
Kate
Oooh, I’ll play!
I was turned on to IDs the first time I went to Ireland and got to ride one. She was a saint and so much fun to ride. Now I’m a huge ID/IDSH fan!
I really want to breed my De Niro/Wolkenstein II Hanoverian mare to an ID one day. I think I have it narrowed down to Harkaway Lionhawk, Snowford Bellman, KEC Double Diamond, Bridon Belfrey (who I’ve met and he is a total sweetheart! Also met Lionhawk’s mommy, Blue, who is probably the most impressive mare I’ve ever seen), or Winmaur Sgt. Pepper. But you never know who else may come along… Amorous Archie is pretty impressive too! Definitely not ready to breed ze little German princess yet, but am looking forward to picking out an Irish daddy when the time comes!
I would love it if Blackberry Ridge Farm got some videos up of their stallions…last time I checked there weren’t any.
Yup, when Sophie gets her butt in gear she is amazing
There is in hand video of all of the stallions from last year’s IDHSNA stallion parade on Blackberry Ridge Farm’s youtube page, and there is additional video of Hawk on my youtube page (I am his “ex” mum). Search youtube for Harkaway Lionhawk and you should find them

You and I seem to have similar tastes in stallions - our favorites list are almost identical. You might also want to check out Steeped in Luck. He has been crossed with WB mares and has a full book this year with a portion being WB. I’m using him this year with one of my RID mares and hoping for a great dressage prospect.
Waterwitch – great info, thanks! I think I remember when you owned Hawk – you had him as a weanling/youngster, right? That was about the time that I joined the IDHSNA, and I’ve always thought Hawk was spectacular! Anyway…do they do the Stallion Parade at the IDHSNA Annual Show? I’ve been wanting to make it to one FOREVER, but I live in WY and so far (since I became an IDHSNA member and actually know that there are annual shows!) they’ve been too far away for me to catch. Hoping to get to one soon though so I can see all those handsome boys (and girls) in person!!
horsetales – I will definitely have to check out Steeped in Luck in more depth. I think he may be a tad on the bigger (taller) side than I’m looking for, but who knows…! Thanks!
Yes…I purchased Hawk from his breeder Maggi Tyler (who imported his mum Blue from England) when he was 2 weeks old, and he lived here with me in Iowa from weaning through his younger years. I backed him and produced him for his stallion inspection at 3 and then sold him to Blackberry Ridge when he was 4. They should have some jumping video up very soon so keep checking their youtube page!
FYI…only one bid was received for the 2011 IDHSNA Annual show and so it is highly likely it will be coming back to Lamplight Equestrian Center in Wayne, IL (the bid site). We had a huge stallion parade there in 2007. I know Illinois is still quite a hike from Wyoming but I hope you can join us!
Waterwitch,
Re: Hawk – you definitely seem to have done a good job with him (and kudos to Maggi for breeding such an awesome boy)!! I will keep my eyes peeled for his jumping video!
Re: IDHSNA show – Illinois just maybe might be doable this year – my mom’s side of the family is there, so perhaps I can finagle something… It would be neat if the show would be on the west coast sometime – California or Oregon, or maybe Arizona or something. Hopefully someone will step up to the plate and bid one day!
Off to go watch You Tube videos…
2011!!! Show is in Virginia again this year.
FWIW I would LOVE to see the show on the west coast…ideally I think it should rotate around the country so that all of the members have an opportunity to attend without having to haul their horses 1800 miles for the privilege.
But if you are in Illinois this year anyway make sure to give me a shout. There are quite a few RIDs all over the Midwest now and I am sure we could set you up with a horsey excursion or three
Oh Waterwitch, I’m so silly. 2011…doh! Well hopefully I’ll definitely be able to go then! And if I do head to IL this year, watch out! I will definitely be getting in touch with you to set up some horsey excursions.
A west/west coast show would be great! Fingers crossed for one sometime in the not too distant future!
Watched BRF’s videos – nice representation of the boys, but where was Snowford Bellman at the stallion parade? Probably I’m just not utd on where he is and what he’s doing, but mostly I hope he’s okay! Also, for future reference I’d still like to see some really professionally done videos of each stallion with at liberty, free jumping, and ridden portions (like 5 minutes of each). As a potential future breeder who lives in the middle of nowhere and thus doesn’t really have the option to go meet the boys in person, it would be great to have some really nice, in depth videos. But maybe that’s just me being picky, and at least the You Tube videos are a start!
Thanks again for all the great info.
Love the .
I think Mountain Pearl is my all time favorite stallion. What’s not to like?
There have been some nice stallions posted on this thread that are new to me. What a joy to see them. I just LOVE Archie and Eamon. LOVELY!
My mare is 3/4 TB, 1/4 RID and she looks more like a straight RID. I grow so tired of explaining to people that they’re SUPPOSED to be this big. Okay, she’s a little “Reubenesque”, but she’s just damned big all over!! Most people are completely suprised when they find out that she has TB in her at all. The only person that successfully identified her as Irish, is ironically the shoer of Braveheart. He walked by my mare’s stall, took one look at her and said, “She’s got to be Irish. She’s built just like Braveheart.” He’s not my shoer and we had never met. I take that as a huge compliment.
Not a great shot, but it shows her bountiful behind! [IMG]http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w240/jilltx_photo/DSC00529.jpg)
LOL, here’s Sophie’s Irish behind

and OMG when she gets it in gear!
Carol beautiful mare!! They all have such a similar type don’t they?? It always amazes me.
LOVE them. Especially those girls with the junk in the trunk.
LOL…your Irish mares booty’s are gorgeous!
…Baby got back!! LOL
jill I will PM you with my facebook info…we have quite a large Irish Draught community on there…lots of pics of the horses…including Mountain pearls American peeps and Debbie/Braveheart and lots of others
cheers
leslie
Thanks leslie! I will respond and join the irish crowd.

I finally got new pics of our Steeped in Luck son - between one thing and another, I have not gotten any decent photos of this boy since he was a long yearling! At three, he’s really becoming a nice young horse, and shows his daddy’s talent.

Keep hoping that the right person will come along for him - he will be a super partner!
Steeped In Luck Article
AdAblurr02, Lucky Punch is a real cutie! I was lucky enough to spend the winter in Wellington with his dad. Horse Sport the biggest horse magazine in Canada ran an article I wrote about Steeped In Luck and his all of his dressage success. If you want to check it out http://www.horse-canada.com/?p=3454
Worth repeating
Dvorak points out that it is so important that riders, both professional and amateur, be open to looking at all breeds. “You really have to give every horse a chance, because every horse deserves a chance.”
