Is anyone Wearing Rust-Colored Breeches in the Hunter Classes
Hmm, these in the “redwood” color? That seems a little darker and redder than “rust” to me. I have these from Custom Riding Apparel, and find they fit pretty similar to TS, and was thinking of picking up these for schooling. I have a chestnut, so I fear going too red with the rust will clash with her.
It’s a totally legit rust. And I rode my chestnut in breeches that color all the time, back in the day.

I know it seems like lots of people like them. I wish some of the show ring Veteran, Ribbon Ho types would start wearing them again. I am way too dorky to be a trend-setter-LOL
That’s hilarious.

I like the second pair of custom riding apparel breeches…does anyone have them/how do they fit?
Yes. Though I got mine at the Tack Box in Middleburg; Dover was just what came up first with a picture on a search  Here’s what they look like in action.

I might have to go see if I can find the new TS color somewhere in person, and see what it looks like, versus website images, which aren’t always the best.

Anyway, I say GO FOR IT! Rock the rust :)
Sorry to step off topic for just a minute, but JenEM, your release and upper body are awesome!

Now back to the thread- rock the rust, people, rock the rust!!

Love rust, I say go for it. I loved my rust breeches in the 80’s and still have some to school in. Some Foxhunts still wear them too… Casanova in VA hunts in rust I think.

That’s what the folks in the barn I am at call the ladies here who do nothing but win every time they go out. There are also apparently Derby Hos.
I think these women with the street cred need to bring the rust breeches back.
I’m tired of the beige and I’ve got my rust pair at the ready

Maybe there needs to be a National Rust Breeches week or something. So people at shows all over can pop up in a class or two riding in them.

I’m no fan of rust, but current hunter ring fashion is in a rut. Someone needs to do something to break up the sea of tan breeches, white shirts and navy/black jackets. If it’s going to take a National Rust Breeches Week, I’m there.

Just thought I’d post this link in case anyone’s interested.

Aww, thanks  Now if I could just look like that over every fence we jump, I’d feel even better about rocking the rust!

I don’t think I, as a lowly sometimes-Eventer, sometimes-Hunter doing the occasional B show is going to be the one to set any big trends. But in so being, I also don’t really care if what I’m wearing is “on trend” so much as “classic and something I like.” So rust breeches? Olive coat? Maybe even brown boots at some point? Sure, why not. (Though probably not all together.) Might as well have fun

There’s a barn in my area that shows at the C’s and a couple local A’s, and the whole barn wears rust one day of every show. Many of the kids are very competitive at the C’s and pin appropriately.

I still love the look of rust but they are rare in the show world. If you love them wear them

There’s a barn in my area that shows up to all the local C and A shows and everyone who rides with that trainer wears rust on sundays. Everyone, every sunday.

Life is short wear the rust
Yes, I think you’re right. Too bad. I love them.
Life is short. Wear the rust! I hope you will do what you want, but if it makes you feel better, I know a girl who shows on the A circuit and always wears rust breeches. She has a chestnut horse and a lot of confidence. Looks great and wins a fair amount. Enjoy yourself! Maybe you’ll start a trend.

One of my friends used to wear rust breeches on Sundays for classics! She definitely was the only one wearing them but it became her trademark in our zone and people knew her as the girl in the rust breeches.

I wear them and I’m a ripe 21 years old

So rust breeches? Olive coat? Maybe even brown boots at some point?

If you have a brown helmet and brown gloves…that sounds like a pretty combo! Do it! All at once!

There is no score for breech color. Rust is completely appropriate except in formal classes. The judge will probably appreciate having a way to remember you

I like them a lot. But I am old. I remember when they were “the” color. Perhaps BECAUSE I like them… I sort of look for them. I see them very very very very rarely at shows and usually only on adorable kidlets in old timely looking clothes for leadline or OCASSIONALLY a very trendy adult. I like them, but I dunno where all these people are who claim they show in rust. Not in my area I guess!

Such great replies-thanks
