Is it a Mac problem that I can't log in to NBC Live Extra?

Is there anyone else with a Mac who can’t log in? I get as far as choosing my provider and then the sign-in page is blank, and that is true no matter which provider I choose.

I do have a user name and password from my cable provider, but that doesn’t help me if there’s no place to put it on the NBC site.

Have any of you with a Mac logged in successfully?

i have a mac and watched US women’s soccer yesterday. I had to do it thru my provider(Comcast). It sounded like you have to have MSNBC and CNBC as part of your cable package to gain access to the live streaming online.

I have signed in on one computer (PC) and am having the same problem as OP on a different (PC) one. I have a support ticket with NBC ongoing, so I could post result.
Apparently they know about the issue, but can’t tell you how to fix it yet.

I’m a Mac newbie and I just registered. Is it possible that your cable subscription does not include the tier needed?

I don’t think it’s the cable tier because I was able to sign in to my iPad with no problem.

I got a response back from NBC asking for details about my web browser and Flash storage settings, so maybe they can help me.

I did try to go through TWC but hit a wall there, too.

Did you download Microsoft Silverlight?

I’m wondering if you can only “sign up” one computer. I have going fine on a MacBook, but when I tried to get the other laptop -
a MacBook Air set up, I can never get beyond Step 2 of the log in…grrrr

No. Isn’t that a Flash substitute?

I was told by Comcast that I had to have Silverlight for live streaming to work. I went to Microsoft silverlight website and download and installed the appropriate one. I have a new mac but flash etc doesn’t work for the olympics.

Q: What are the system and operating requirements for accessing and watching live video on NBCOlympics.com?

A: You must have Flash enabled in one of the following browsers:
•Internet Explorer v8 and above
•Firefox v3.6 and above
•Chrome v16 and above
•Safari v5 and above

Go here to download the latest Adobe Flash Player.

I think you can use multiple 'puters. I have signed up a desktop, a tablet and I have a problem signing in on a laptop

really… Wouldn’t work on mine to watch olympics. Only after I got silverlight, then it worked. maybe it’s a comcast requirement.

try firefox

I couldn’t sign in using Safari but did fine with Firefox.

Well;
I have tried
IE 9
Firefox
Chrome

I have;
Flash
Silverlight

Latest versions of everything, and so far nothing has worked on this particular 'puter

Did you try using your internet providers web page? If I go to nbcolympics.com, I can’t get in. Nothing happens. But if I go to Comcast’s website.net, I can access the olympics without much of a problem, after my provider is vertified.
otherwise, I don’t know what to suggest. Email to your internet provider and ask what’s the problem?

I have tried that to no avail.

Equibrit, my computer meets all of those requirements.

Peggy, Firefox doesn’t work either.

:dead:

To be fair I have yet to succeed in streaming anything other than a series of ads via Firefox on my Mac. Then the video clock kept running but the screen just said something about content not being available. What I was trying to watch was an archived soccer match as there was nothing live going on.

I have DirectTV via AT&T FWIW.

I am going to hold off on installing the new Mac OS until after the Olympics just in case.

problem solved

and I hope this works for you too…

  • update everything (browser, silverlight, flash)

  • but it still didn’t work, just nothing when I tried to log in…so…

  • uninstalled flash using the uninstaller web page, and

  • I deleted the four flash library files (two in system lib, two in user lib) they said to delete

  • download fresh flash installer

  • quit browser

  • install flash

and then all was well…in safari, and firefox, and it looks like chrome is behaving too…

good luck! (I think I better understand Jobs’ distaste for Adobe…)

^^^not to mention Adobe’s mucking up of Dreamweaver, but that’s totally irrelevant to the main issue at hand.

I give up. The iPad app doesn’t work either.

Beijing was so easy in comparison. I watched everything whenever I wanted.

Boo NBC.
