Is Vogel Boots still in business?

According to their website they are in the midst of a move (which has said that for a while now). I have sent them an email asking about who in TX can do my measurements for some new boots. No reply. Granted I have not called them yet…
My current Vogels are getting old but have lasted for many, many years! After reading about shredded boots I’m not to excited to spend money on off the shelf boots that are not that much cheaper then customs.

As far as I know they are. They’re slated to be a vendor as usual at WIHS in a few weeks.

Quail Hollow in Flower Mound Texas can measure for Vogel. From what I understand, the company was sold to a former employee and should be up and running soon.

One of the cousins has purchased the company. They have just begun to make boots again.

I had Charlottes in Houston do my boot measurements for me and they did a great job for my Vogels

Go to Quail Hollow at the Final Chase. Big trailer & Kenny should be there.

Interesting. Hope the service is better. Earlier this summer I ordered Vogels and paid $200 (I believe) extra for a ONE month rush. After about THREE weeks, they said the boots would be late - about two months total turnaround, but they weren’t willing to charge the lower rush rate. They cancelled my order when I noted the rush charges. AND they LIED about their rush times, which I had previously confirmed multiple times. Ultimately it cost me ~$500 to get boots in time for HITS.

FYI, Vogel is notorious for making their boots both short and wide. I’ve seen it and I’ve experienced it. But the quality is good.

FWIW, this was my experience when I ordered customs about six-seven years ago. And I got no interest from anyone involved in resolving the issue when the boots were new. I was told they’d be better when they broke in. Obviously, that didn’t make sense at all, but I wasn’t as assertive then as I should have been.

After about five years of hating the boots every time I laid eyes on them, I calmed down enough to try to work through the problem like a rational adult and contacted Vogel about making alterations/corrections. IIRC, It was going to cost about $500 to fix and add zippers.

I’ve resumed being outraged and hating the innocent boots.

I’ve been selling Vogels for over 25 years. Any problems we’ve ever had were taken care of quickly and ‘painlessly’ by Vogel. The tack shop who measured you should be stepping up to the plate and contacting Vogel for you to make the boots right. Sorry some of you have had bad experiences with them.

Yes, there was some inter-family stuff going on and so Vogel was more or less off the grid all summer as they closed down the Howard Street space, where they’ve been operating for many years. They have just established a new factory space in the Brooklyn Navy Yard and are making boots again.

What does it matter if a tack shop is involved or not, if the boots don’t match the measurements, then the manufacturer - Vogel or La Mundial - needs to remake the boot … not cut the boot, add inserts or “tops” to the boot, but make a boot that meets the order numbers.
It’s really very simple.

Boots that match the order measurements, but don’t fit the client, fall into a different category.

Ditto, I’ve spent almost another $300 on top of what I’ve spent on getting mine in, they were too short, couldn’t do anything about it…It’s now sitting in my room as decoration…

If the boots don’t match the measurements sent in, then you should have been in touch with Vogel (or your retailer who measured you) and had them make them right.

If you were measured wrong, well that’s a whole different situation. I did measure a girl too short. The boots matched my measurements which were wrong. I had to eat the pair of boots and have a new pair made.

This is a custome item. If you chose to measure yourself, that’s the chance you take. Measuring for custom items (boots or chaps) is impossible to do on yourself especially if you’ve never done it before.

I was measured at Vogel, as was my friend. They cut my boots to make them narrower. They weren’t too short until they dropped. So, yes, I do get to blame Vogel.

My original pair of Vogels as a junior were flawless. So after the died a valiant death, my parents bought me new ones as a college graduation gift.
They were done so badly; WAY too tall and also narrow.
I complained and took multiple trips to NYC to have them fixed. They just kept cutting them down but because of how much too tall they were, they never fit the shape of my leg correctly either. They wouldn’t give money back OR make a new pair of boots and they have literally sat in my closet in their bags for the majority of their life because they were too uncomfortable to wear.

I will never have Vogels again. Not because the boots were messed up in the first place - that can happen and I get that - but because of the run-around and lack of ever making good on a problem. And that makes me sad because my first pair were my favourite boots I’ve ever owned.

Sorry, slight hijack here… It’s been established that the company is still in business and will resume making boots and shipping them out very soon, if they haven’t already, but if you look at their website it says that field boots can only be purchased after an in-person measurement- and they aren’t going to have representatives at shows that I can find either… I’d like to look at buying boots from Vogel, but I can’t make it up to NYC for measurement. I was hoping that they would make an appearance at HITS Ocala, but it looks like there will only be one custom boot maker there this year? Does anyone have more information?

Again, sorry to hijack the thread

I will be at HITS Ocala with my mobile tack shop and would be happy to measure you. Been measuring for over 20 years. (If you can wait until mid-January) I’m usually parked across from the food stand.

I’d skip Vogels at this point. . There are so many nice boots that have great customer service, and don’t take forever. DeNiro and Derdau come to mind. . . DeNiro boots are lovely, but are narrow. Everyone I know with the Derdau’s love them. Vogels do last a long time, but they are also harder to break in IMO.

Bumping this thread to see if anyone has received boots post management change and is willing to comment on fit/quality/durability.

I’m looking for something durable with really small ankles and having trouble deciding. Love the look of parlanti but don’t like the price or the durability (especially combined), so if anyone has suggestions, I’d definitely be interested… Thinking about Derdau as well, but now I’m just looking for information. I almost went with parlanti but after I started asking questions about how long they lasted, I decided they weren’t the right boots.

Also, if anyone has experience ordering from a Florida vendor, I’d love to hear those experiences too!

All information/opinions welcome!
Thanks in advance!

I’ve heard too many horror stories about Vogel (both poor workmanship and customer service) in recent years–I hope that will change under new management! My custom Vogels were great but they’re totally worn out now. I do like my Der Daus a lot.
