It's Here! Maryland 5*

No one else is having trouble accessing the live stream? I have a fan membership, but, when logged in, if I click to watch Maryland dressage live stream, I get booted out to the login page. I can watch other videos on the site, but not the live stream!

Question for folks on site: I know the grounds were totally rearranged. Do competitors still have to navigate through the big culvert anymore like they used to to get from stabling to the big arena?

I’m not on site- but no, they don’t have to go through any of the tunnels anymore

I’ve not had any problem watching the live stream. Have you figured it out yet?
They’re having a break right now.

I had the same thing… then I clicked on the join or create membership, thinking I’d just make a new one, put in the promo code maryland21 and it apparently renewed my membership and I can watch now.

Figured it out! All set for XC tomorrow.

Can someone tell Karen O’C that her ‘favorite horse in the country’ right now, is a gelding. Mama’s Magic Way is not a mare…

Seriously….

Boy, you aren’t kidding. That’s some mighty cheering from a small crowd. Well done, spectators!

That was so cute of Buck. “Congratulations. I’m the last one you’ll ever judge!”

I can’t tell you how thrilled I am to be able to turn on channel 22 of my over the air TV and watch this event. My internet doesn’t do too well with streaming, and there are no hoops to jump through to connect. Just turn the TV on and there it is on the big screen! I already left a comment with MPT thanking them for this. I sure hope they do it again in the future.

Yes they have really done an excellent job with the coverage.

Definitely some bugs to work out on site, but from what I’ve seen on the live streams in the mornings has been great. I think XC will be tough for spectators who don’t like to/can’t walk long distances. I assume they will have shuttles though, just hoping bigger shuttles than what was offered back & forth to Saw Mill field for YEH. (6 person shuttle). That’s not gonna cut it. At old FH in years past there was a hay wagon so maybe will continue that.

Apparently Max Corcoran texted Karen with that information during the dressage.

I’m volunteering all weekend in the media area there. Have to say the folks from overseas are amazingly nice. Harry Meade could not be more charming. Same with the Prices and Zara was also a joy. Lots of cheering from the crowd during dressage this afternoon. The XC looks extremely tough but lots of options. Fingers crossed for safe trips all around.

She did make a small correction comment way after the ride. Highly amusing that John Kyle who has all the horse information in front of him did not correct her the 7 millionth time that Karen said mare did this, she, her etc.

Hard to believe it’s your favorite horse in the country when the in the close ups of the footwork you don’t think to yourself, huh that’s an odd looking mare. Good on Max for doing it if that’s what ended up happening.

Very excited to see how the keyhole corners ride tomorrow, as well as the ditch/rail. Will we have another frangible discussion for that combo perhaps.

I walked the course and those owls are TIGHT. Some of the taller horses and riders may well be touching the top.

We have our first ever booth at Fair Hill and are absolutely thrilled with the response so far. I am super interested to see how tomorrow goes for us since the vendors aren’t anywhere near XC. Keep the vendors in mind tomorrow as you enjoy the show, there is lots of great stuff for sale. It will be worth the trek.

The course goes about 2 miles out and 2 miles straight back, with a lane down the middle for spectators most of the way. Its actually probably one of the easiest courses to view. What will be a pain is schlepping up and down those hills because there are many and they are BIG!

I walked the course yesterday and think I’m going to hang out at the bank (holy crap, that bank and the drop after it!) and the crabs/water complex. The walk back through Sawmill is easier and more protected than the walk back to start/finish, especially since it’ll likely be in the rain.

As of yesterday, there were only three golf cart shuttles. If they don’t have more today, it’s going to be a looooong walk for a lot of people. Not a great setup for spectators. Oh, well.
