Jill Burnell Gray Fox Farms - FACTS THREAD
 Oh my gosh… OUCH. Dropped fetlocks, which caused straight, post legged hocks, just looks painful. You can see how she is standing way over her front end, you can see the poor topline and shadows of ribs. That poor poor mare.
And that was a photo foal/ from 2010.

Lynnwood, that photo is unavailable for me.
You’d think if they were advertising a stallion for stud they could at least spell his sire name correct. It is Rotspon, not Rotspun:( That to me is a ding, ding…not a professional.

It is all over. Slap on the wrist. Unbelievable

HOLY SH!T(!) I knew things were bad, I never imagined they where this bad.

The first seizure of Burnell’s horses occurred after a stallion fight ensued in late December. Burnell called a former friend saying she thought Aloha and Romantic Star were going to “kill each other.”

“Romantic Star was on the ground on his side, and his leg was twisted in the air… Aloha’s foot was putting pressure on the blanket in the area of Romantic Star’s neck which was causing him difficulty breathing. She feared that Aloha had seriously injured the leg, and that it could be broken.”

“Romantic Star was on his left side and his right eye was swollen shut. His face and body were covered with mud and blood. She also saw that he was incredibly thin compared to the last time that she had seen him when he was in Petaluma. She said it took about an hour and a half to get him up off of the ground. She felt that he was going to die. While this was going on, defendant Jill Burnell was rarely seen, until she appeared with some hay which she put in the muddy pen.”

And all this monster Jill Burnell got was probation  She gets to keep horses, she gets to keep breeding.

I am so disgusted!!!

PLEASE PEOPLE - spread it far and wide what a ANIMAL ABUSER, a CONVICTED animal abuser this woman is!!! Its not hearsay, its not in question, SHE ADMITTED GUILT!!

She needs to be chased out of the horse business forever.

It is indeed disgusting! No matter the country, the law does not protect innocent animals… No matter what witnesses and animal protection officers say… some lawyers will sweet talk a judge.
I know everyone who helped the horses must be very very upset and disappointed about the situation! As if probation will do anything. Now, is Redwine going to remain here or is Jill Burnell going to get her dirty hands back on him?

I think her name is dirt now anyway, but others are still helping her by keeping her horses. Shame on them!

Now what about all the fees she received and “goods” she did not deliver?

There’s two things I have to say here.

1- While the punishment certainly does NOT fit the crime, 4 years is a long time to be on probation.

2- In my opinion, Redwine should be gelded given the fact he has basically what is an Equine STD that he can pass on to others if they don’t have careful management practices but honestly if it was me, I’d just cut my losses and geld… Look at Ravel. Ravel had the same thing when they were going to import him but they just figured it was better to make him a gelding.

If I understand correctly that is a photo of Romantic Star and Aloha as they were found

So what becomes of them ? Does she get Romantic Star and the mares she starved back? Since she pleaded guilty does she have to foot their vet / car bills ?

The EVA was not the defining reason they gelded Ravel. He was a handful as a show stallion and the Eva was just another weight on the scale.

Even still, there are lots of show horses that are handfuls and after all, Edward was able to handle him just fine.

anyone know how RS is doing? Where he will land?

I thought he was back with his former owner or breeder? Maybe I am wrong… Aloha was sold and is in Canada. So is Redwine but on lease. These two have had great care at least for the past few years. Haven’t heard much about them lately.

I thought that was Federalist FI.

Irrelevant to the thread, I know, but Ravel tested positive for CEM. I don’t believe they test for EVA in quarantine. Ravel had strikes against him temperament wise, and needing to stay in quarantine longer for treatment was another.

Oh. Right. I had forgotten about him.

That she is allowed to continue to have horses is criminal. Shame on the prosecutor for pleading her out on those terms.

Thanks Peaches I had the STDs swapped up. Either was was just answering the poster who felt Redwide should be gelded over his EVA status.

Disgusting picture of RS and Aloha. I believe RS is still in MHS’s care, but I wonder what will happen to him now. I was so hoping that she wouldn’t be able to own so much as a mouse after this trial went through, but at least there will be some oversight to her “care” from now on. I doubt MHS will play around with this one.
No blame or fault lies in her horses (owned, leased, stolen or otherwise) but I hope that no one will touch her, or anyone financially associated with her, professionally from now on with a 10 foot pole. I’m glad to have escaped her mess a few years back with a mare who could still stand on 4 legs.

I don’t know how anyone can watch horses go downhill like that. The only glimmer of hope is that a reputation, good or bad, seems to stick with someone. Hopefully, this will put her out of the horse business since she is only interested in $$.

That picture of the poor stallion down in the mud, with his leg all sticking out weird - it says it all. Thin, dirty, hurt! Makes me want to gag.

I hope all the COTH threads about this woman always make it to the top of any google search with her name or the names of her stallions. Yep, Jill Burnell, horse abuser, starver, crook. I don’t think there are enough classes at that university to fix you up…
