Jill Burnell Gray Fox Farms - FACTS THREAD

Even still, there are lots of show horses that are handfuls and after all, Edward was able to handle him just fine.
Edward is a different type of rider than Steffen.

Nevertheless, the horse was for sale. He was an 8 year old stallion and the new owner and trainer wanted him for the Olympics.

From an August 2008 interview with Ravel’s new owner Akiko Yamazaki:
“When he first arrived and was in quarantine in Davis, he was like a fire-breathing dragon. He had to cover two mares live and that completely rocked his world! We made the wise decision to geld him (following Klaus Balkenhol’s motto that the best dressage stallion is a gelding) and he is now a floppy-eared sweetie.”

Not everyone wants to have to manage “a handful” in their barn.

but since the USA are always ready to police the world, maybe they should start at home…
LOL. When I read this my first thought was “Must have been written by a Canadian.”

Yes, the USA is very fortunate that we have the resources to help and assist other countries when needed. Many Americans help others first, before themselves.

My tax dollars at work:

I am still just astounded that she is allowed to continue owning horses. I hope AC in diligent in visiting her farm EVERY SINGLE MONTH. Otherwise, things will go to hell in a handbasket very quickly. The whole thing is truly sickening.

Not sure where this fits in in this conversation but since it was brought up, the actual reason to geld Ravel was because he failed the test.

Does anyone know the status of Romantic Star? I always liked him!

Good grief. The “Negotiated Agreement” reads worse than imagined.
She has 12 months to complete 3 hours of class, she has to build roofs, wind breaks, and keep a dry spot for horses to stand, keep her hay covered, and if she can’t buy more hay, she can call the Marin Humane Society.

Sweet.

So, Jill Burnell, convicted animal abuser (here, Google Google), even managed to scam the judge into believing she’s just ignorant about horse care instead of just lazy and cruel. What a travesty.

If past experience is any guide, she won’t be able to fulfill these requirements. I think the free hay is for the horses, not for her. We shall see if she does what the court wants. Are we laying bets?

Wow, that’s hopeful! This woman has abused horses, scammed owners, stiffed vets, feed stores, banks and her old attorneys. This slap on the wrist build some shelters plea agreement was not cool. Hopefully some REAL consequences are coming for her.

A few years ago, she had a warrant out for her arrest, I think, in Virginia. Anyone know how to find out if that is still active? Is it forever or do they give up after so many years?

She was due to report to probation on Friday, May 16, and the link says she was arrested on May 19. If one doesn’t report to probation, is one arrested ?

That would be a violation of probation, so certainly arrestable if reported. Which it seems it was.

Careful…most of our international missions are humanitarian (airlift, aeromedical, air dropping food/medicine/supplies, etc.). ALL of our domestic missions are humanitarian; aerial firefighting being the primary. Providing humane relief for others is not “policing.” Not to mention Canada standing right next to us in the field.

Heres hoping the (seriously? So soon?) arrest will negate the plea deal and land her butt in jail with no access to hurt any animal. I doubt it, but we can still hope!

But who is now taking care if the horses ? The public ? Marin humane society ? Are the able to sell horses of to reduce their idts and give them good homes ?

And what happened to RS ?

I really, really hope Romantic Star lands softly, far, FAR away from Jill Burnell. I bred my mare to him in 2011, before I found out things had gone so very wrong out there. She sadly aborted, but I still dream of an RS baby. As farm as I know, he is still in the care of Marin Co HS. Will she get him back, anyone know??

I think they gave her some pretty easy requirements to fulfill and then perhaps intended to hammer her as they knew she wouldn’t do it. Too bad we didn’t start betting (altho who would take her side???) but it didn’t take her long to blow up the whole agreement if she was jailed.

They’re going to give her a reasonable amount of rope to hang herself, so to speak. No way her attorney could argue that the terms of the agreement were so onerous that there was no hope of her complying with it.

Just maybe Marin Co.'s strategy is to build a rock solid case that gets her out of the horse owning business for good, but over the long term.
