From the lawsuit compensation has to be paid to Marine Humane Society. The try to seize the stallion even before he leaves Canada and leave him at the stud he is at to earn his own living. I am sure if the funds would go to them one or the other breeder that is resenting breeding to him as they think he is still owned by JB, ay use him and maybe also the upkeep of other horses can be financed up to a certain point by his income…

A bit puzzled about Ashland being “heartbroken” to have to return RW to Jill B. What did he expect? that she would disappear under lock and key and he could/would keep RW? He signed a contract and he knew he would have to return the horse.
Frankly, I am not too worried about RW… she is under scrutiny and this horse in particular, will be monitored… one wrong step and bingo!!
But, the heartbreak… a bit dramatic?

Yes, but unfortunately that has all change now that she’s gotten her breedings to Redwine fulfilled. :rolleyes:
I think the reason most people are upset with VLF Sporthorses is because she seems to be passionately defending, or at the very least, making excuses for a known, convicted animal abuser. Maybe people need to look at these photos again as a reminder of who they are trying to defend!

From what I understand, Jill Burnell did not contact a veterinarian after this attack, nor was one contacted the next day…at which time animal control then showed up as a result of a phone call from a concerned citizen.

Right fulfilled not even by Jill but by the 2nd party … Let me guess that is why shes defending their unethical use of your filly’s photo. Its ok for them to behave anyway they want because she got what she wanted from them. 
As someone who has purchased young hunter bred horses, this whole situation is shameful. To anyone that breeds to redwine after all of this has come to light, shame on you. I don’t care who is caring for him now, the Burnells are profiting off your breedings, because if you hadn’t bred, the lease fee, or royalties or combo wouldn’t be in her pocket. Your offspring go out and represent a stallion they own. I do not think Ashland farm comes out looking like a pristine outfit, they are doing business with her, they are paying her something to have that stallion, and if they are not paying to lease him, I have no doubt it’s for an even more atrocious reason. The stealing photos is just shameful and embarrassing. It takes one phone call to ask permission from the rightful owners of the photo, and if they say no, you do not use them. 2/3 of the photos on the ad are stolen intellectual property.
As a potential buyer and will continue to do so I promise you I will not be buying a Redwine offspring born after all of this came to light. If any breeder is okay with either directly or indirectly benefiting Jill Burnell you need a wake up call. The lady was either so cheap, or so delusional she starved a horse, who she had been using to make a profit, to DEATH. If you can look at those pictures of those two money making stallions fighting in the mud and say to yourself, yep I am okay helping that owner turn a profit, then shame on you. If you lie down with fighting muddy stallions, don’t expect to get up without some injury, and dirt.
And the best thing for Ashland to do is once their lease is done, or the breeding season is over, is to load him up and send him home. They need to wash their hands and be done with GFF. There is no stallion worth throwing your morals and ethics away for.

Ok People It’s funny how the facts change and the focus of this forum have evolved. I have not once defended Jill Burnell nor have I resorted to calling people names. This post began with me suggesting that the removal of the picture and an apology seems to be sufficient. I am happy to be receiving my breedings to Redwine. I am thankful to Ashland Farm for honouring my contracts left open by Jill Burnell. Redwine has landed in a place where he has been kept in the manor he deserves, what the future holds for him I don’t know.
