True
So I got this funny video of Evil Burrito having the business end of a hissy fit today when I took Rory out of the paddock. Rory had been snoozing next to the Tent de Burro…
Then he ran away from DH not once but twice . I think he is back in all his evil glory!!
Love it.
Where do you get his blankets from?
I was using a Tough1 blanket for Izzie, but it fit her oddly. I found the Country Pride ones were great.
Odie wears a Schneider’s Stormshield, and the fit isn’t perfect but I gotta tell ya, no complaints on them holding up! It gaps in the chest a bit, which if Izzie is a donk, I bet that is your problem also? Mini blankets are made for horses, with horse chests, even in miniature. Wee donks have narrow little wee chests :).
I looked at Country Pride, looove the plaid! Alas, I don’t think 600 denier will work.
Not to be pushy, but I could do with a Odie fix. Can you help a girl out?

Sure!!
Well…somewhat against doctor’s orders, Odie has been getting “out” time. He was doing great with the hand walking, and watching him handle himself while hand grazing… And I started letting him out to wander while being supervised. He did a lot of scooting around, but he is moving pretty well and getting around well. I need to get the vet out soon anyways for the big horses (strangled outbreak a county over, need to vaccinate for that…) and see what he thinks.
Odie is still in no way able to go out with the horses :(. But I think that maybe nighttime out time while Rory and Nika are locked in might be in his near future. I also think a donkey hut might be something worth looking into for daytime stalling. Odie is used to being a Billy Badass, but I think he might write checks he can’t cash…
But, his attitude is GREAT!!
Priceless
Yeah…definitely priceless now, with the vet bills .

And a video of the scooting :)[/QUOTE]
Awesome!
That is a happy burrito there.
He certainly isn’t letting that leg slow him down any!
Heeeeeeck no .
Does he actually use it? It is hard to tell with all his silliness.
Oh yes he is! :). It’s so nice to see. If you watch, you’ll see he’s using it at the canter and the trot.

Odie does use it… then stops and it seems to remember about that leg and lifts it.
Years ago when I was a working student, one of the foals I handled on a regular basis developed a nasty rear hind hoof abcess - but the scrappy guy didn’t let him slow him down. Rather, he learned to trot & canter on 3 legs. It was wild to watch him tear around the pasture that way. When he finally healed it took him a while to catch on to the fact that the hindleg could be used.
Odie is soo cute - thanks for the fix as it made my day.
Too cute!!!
Erika, he actually seems to use it more than that. I rewatched the video and I never see him holding it up, and I rarely see him hold it up in person, usually just if he’s standing on the hill that goes up to the arena. Even then, he uses it going up and down the hill hurray!.
So his little Tent De Burro is looking pretty ragged. Between Odie and Rory ripping up one side of the tarp and Odie now pawing in one corner and ripping the tarp there…it’s pretty ghetto. Also, some of it was because Rory figured out he could reach Odie’s hay. I took this picture after I moved the hay; Rory was VERY put out that I took away his snacks, but I finally figured out how Odie was going through so much from a small hole net!
I can’t drop 800 pounds (whatever that conversion is ) on a donkey shelter, but I am trying to think of ways to “pimp my tent.” Anyone have any ideas? It’s probably going to be a while yet before he’s cleared to be out unsupervised, and even longer before he can be out with Rory, if ever :(.
Annnnnnnnd, finally, a long clip of Odie braying!! I let all the horses out, and then stepped out of view.
That woke my dog up.
Could you use a small carport somewhere, that you can add panels in front to make it’s own pen, as large as you want by adding more panels?
If you later don’t need the carport any more, they sell very quickly around here.
You could even fence a larger part of it to store stuff in, just leave enough for Odie to stay protected out of the weather in there.
Oh not a bad idea! I was looking at the Smith Sectionals (this one?) for ideas on how to build one… But a carport or ready-made shed! Great idea! I’m more concerned about it blowing/tipping over in a windstorm, but I supposed they make something to hammer into the ground?
It can always be a shed for something for later. Hay storage or something.
