Jingles for Evil Burrito: post 774 COTH jingles worked again!

Awww… Poor, starving burritos…
NOT!

Vet wants to test my VSE Bugs for Cushing’s, due to his latest laminitic flare-up.
I’m almost hoping he tests + as the treatment is fast & effective & not overly pricy.
I’ve read Prascend has to be kept in the vacuum pack until used.
How do you preserve the 1/2 tab until needed?
Or does it remain effective the next day?

In my opinion, they are MORE than just cute!!!

I’ve read the same, but honestly… Some is better than none. I use a pill cutter and they are in quarters.

When our pony was on half tabs, our vet had us use a freezer bag to store the package in. I just tucked it back in the foil. It can be hazardous to people, so she said to use gloves or something when you handle the pills. It’s easier now that pony is on full pills. I just pop the pill into the bolus. I don’t have to touch it.

I just started my senior mare on half a tab of prascend. The vet explained the pills are in nitrogen in the foil packs. She suggested putting the other half in as an airtight of a container as I can find, but otherwise not worrying about it. You do what you can.

Well… Odie is about to be treated even more like a stuffy than a real animal, I’m currently searching for a calf sling. Last farrier appointment even with extra meds on board was not fun :grimacing:

I have seen, when needing to support a horse, some barns used their webbed stall guards.
Some across the belly, around the chest, around the things, connected and supported with ropes.
Tie them up to a tractor bucket and it lifts the horse enough to get it’s weight of its feet and still leave it enough touching the ground to keep from getting upset.
Protect any edges that may cut into the skin with towels or blankets, add cinches where those may help support.
Bet you could find some or another such that would work on a stuffed donkey if you can’t find an already made sling:

There are actual critter slings, for baby calves and such. More comfortable than jerry-rigging it.

I have two mental images of The Burrito and his sling.

Mental image 1 is the happy Burrito standing there all smug with himself because he found a way to get the humans to hold him up while he gets a pedicure.

Mental image 2 is the disgusted Burrito letting you know that Burritos do not do slings and how dare you imply he is not capable of standing on his own.

This is helpful information to put out there to the community, nevertheless. I had to use a stall guard for exactly this purpose to keep my horse on her feet during a terrible WNV outbreak.

Okay Farrier Day Sling dry run has been completed successfully and, honestly, minimal fussing. He was kicky about his bad leg and got smacked on his well-padded and furry booty for being a boogersnot, but going slow with everything else was a huge success. All four feet picked up and handled and by the end I sorta think he enjoyed hanging out in the sling. It was helpful that he got to stand in a sea of delicious alfalfa too.

Also, his fat little tummy getting all pooched out was infinitely amusing.

The cute-response of I JUST WANT TO SQUEEZE HIM oh my god he’s so adorable. His fluffy fluffy face I want to pinch his cheeks :sob:

Glad the sling dry run went well and it’s shaping up to what sounds to be, a viable assist for farrier day!

Today was the day! And it worked a treat too. Easiest farrier appt in a couple years, to be honest. Also Argie was VERY happy he didn’t have use the sling!

I figured with everything else going on, it was the absolute perfect time for an Odie update!

The boys got clipped Sunday, a little later than normal but… it’s been a late spring and work sucks and yeah. So I tempted the on-call gods and clipped them because while Argie was semi-sleek and shedding, Odie was looking a little bleh and moth-eaten. Might as well clip them both! A friend came over to help and we knocked them both out in less than hour (also I used generic blades off Amazon that were way cheaper than Andis brand ceramic edge and they worked just as good at much lower price point).

Odie’s fuzzy face pre-clip

And his sexiness post-clip

Also please note he is standing fully and voluntarily on his bad leg while I clip around his little footsie!

And two videos, one with us playing with the donkeys with sunlight reflections off our watches and Odie being, well…his name sake  And the second was later that night when it was breezy, and they had some major zoomies, I barely got any of it but what I got was cute!
