Jingles if you would for the fat man

Could it be from kicking at flies under his belly or sheath? That is hard work - I have one gelding that sweats more on one side than the other in the location you mentioned, from kicking at flies. If his feet are cool I wouldn’t stress yet.

It might not be a bad idea to put what you have on hand on those soles if you’re worried - wrapping the fronts after an application of Durasole, Magic Cushion, or even some poultice might offer some short term relief. There’s always a transitional period when shoes are pulled.

I’ll keep jingling for his continued recovery! And @cayuse how is your mini doing?

Yeah, I’ve been using the keratex hardener on the fronts, but I might need to bump up to magic cushion. It was fairly cool last night and he was in the barn (with automatic fly spray) so I don’t think he was stomping that much, but he could be. I kept him in today because he was pretty cranky about going out which is a good indicator that he is just over flies, so I’ll check on him at lunch and see how he is.

Thanks for asking beowulf. Today, four days off the amikacin, Cappy blew out some snot. I messaged the dentist and his routine vet and they “are not too worried” but I am. He had his stitches out from the bone debridement yesterday and is out romping around. It’s been a long haul with him. Sinus surgery followed by tooth and tooth root (left from prior extraction) extraction, then a piece of bone didn’t heal right from the sinus surgery and that needed debridement. He was at Tufts 10 days plus the dentist and IDK how many check’s from his home vet. Right now he’s enjoying his turnout and his appetite is good and he’s feeling motivated to cause havoc as minis are meant to do.

Alterration, More jingles for the Fat Man! I know exactly where you are at! I bet he’s a bit funky from having the shoes pulled like beowulf said. Do you have any boots you could throw on him?

I do - but he keeps the boots on about as well as he kept wraps on. His extravagant movement tends to be a bit of a challenge (Saddlebred…enjoys trotting around with very high knees).

I did have him turned out in the sand arena, so other than some goober rocks on the way down to it I’m not sure it’s that kind of soreness, but likely some things might be adjusting in the foot. His feet do look a tad short, not that he had any sort of saddlebred shoe on, but I’m looking at his feet and they seem…small.

He also is nicknamed the fat man for a reason, and the foliage around here, even around the sand arena that he can nibble on that is around the outside of the arena, is going CRAZY this summer. Our driveway is even coated in grass so I’m wondering if he got a bit more of that than he could handle.

If it’s not one thing it’s another!

Here’s jingling for Cappy as well! <3

We gave trees overhanging the minis paddock, luckily they are too short to reach them. The welsh pony can if he stands on tippy toes but he finds that too strenuous for the most part. Everything here is growing like a jungle.
