Just for Fun: Best Pony Names Ever!

I have a pony, we named her Rosie. She is an older pony, mid 20’s,when I got her, and who knows what her previous name(s) were. But, she loves her name, and when she hears me yell, Rossssiiiieeeee, she comes running.
She has learned her name quite well.
I just splurged and had a stall guard made for her with her name on it. Its pink and there is something about ponies that they are meant to be spoiled.
Oh, and she is a chesnut mare as well as being a pony, so she has all the attitude one could want!

I can never remember who came up with the name, but someone on COTH gave us the best name for one of my kid’s ponies - she plays ice hockey and wanted to have something hockey related in his name…

Zampony.
OMG growing up playing hockey and a brother and dad who play I absolutely am going to steal this some day!

I can’t believe Bellellis hasn’t posted yet. I am going to out her pony for her.

His barn name is Huggy / Huggy Bear. Show name is Huggen Dazs.

LOVE IT!

I know…super clever name, right?

Tidbit - if she’d been a tid bit taller she would have been a horse.
Wicked Wonder - Not a CJ baby to my knowledge though this little ^&% was definitely a wicked little pony.
Danny Boy - halfie cross I dearly loved this little pony but hated riding him. He could have easily doubled as a sofa.
Blessed Heart - I am convinced they meant bless your heart in the southern way which means any number of things but generally means “get me out of this conversation you are an idiot.” Which would have fit this pony perfectly.
MoneySunk - had a 1/2 sister named Moneysink.

He told the rescue lady his name was Panda, but around here, he’s known as The Naughty Pony

There was a cute little eventing pony who showed as Mr. Puff’n’Stuff.

And another eventer - technically a pony, but they were 2nd at Young Riders one year - whose barn name was Boomer (as in Boomerang). His show name: Right Back Atcha.

Chocolate palomino, show name: Swiss Miss, barn name: Nestle! Loved by a little girl who wore EVERYthing pink

Turtle!

Gimli is my new fav! He’s so short and fat and boy can he kick, packs a kid around fox hunting!

I once had a pony named Rocky Don’t You Dare. It fit him perfectly.

I already posted but I remembered another one.

Denny Emerson has posted a picture of a pony that frequents his farm called… FAT BOY! Love it!
OMG! My daughter and I were just talking about Fat Boy on Sunday - how is he? Too funny!

Ones I’ve known:
Batteries Not Included

Heavens to Betsy (powerhouse little saddle seat pony that used to win EVERYTHING)

Dam Right (9.2 H shetland my trainer used to have for her daughter. Definitely had a Napoleon complex: NO horse bossed him around in the field)

Don’t know personally but always liked…
Tiddlywinks (leopard POA)

Fancy Freddie is a silver dapple/white Mini that pulls a cart and struts his stuff like he’s 17 hands

Back in the 60’s when we got our first pony, he was green broke, pulled out of a herd of about 10 mares that he had bred, had him gelded and he turned out to be fantastic. (I know not a good first choice, but my sister and I learned to ride that wild thing) We named him “Dandy” after the Herman Hermits song about a Dandy that had lots of lady friends…

My daughter’s second pony came with the name Whisper… At our place she was occasionally know as You $%$*#$ %@@$#…

A friend of mine’s daughter’s pony is called Sparkle… and she’s a sweet Section A Welsh, dapple grey.

A palamino pony or was he chestnut with a flaxen mane and tail I can’t remember named James Blonde. So cute!

Also, Daddy’s Empty Wallet and My College Fund. Love those.

My yearling pony is named Cause for Applause.

Somewhere I heard of a roan pony named The Roan Ranger… thought that was cute

Mildew - a grayish, brownish, dappled Shetland with a white mane and tail

My Mum worked in a barn in England that had an adorable pony named Wee Dragon. He was so small that they had cut a hole in his stall door so he could see out.

Ok, ok, I’ll tell you guys. This is the perfect name for a fat, sassy pony.

My husband rocks at coming up with names for our pets that he just pulls out of his butt. About a month ago he came up with THE best pony name. Ever.

I am determined to name my future-child’s pony this:

Molasses and Gases

A saddle seat barn in the area had a school pony named Cherry Bomb-how good is that?!
Wow! Was this is Ma? In the 70’s I boarded a pony of the same name. The whole breeding line were “Cherry’s”. Cherry Bomb, Cherry Coke, Cherry Soda, etc…

For a while in the 70’s I rode a little pony mare probably a welsh/shetland cross named Imp - name suited her to a T.

My current favorite name is:

Merlin the Wonder Pony - I see him at pony club rallies and events sometimes. He’s so little and cute and fat I want to take him home!

At summer camp where I worked in the stables, we had ponies named Alpo and Jellybelly.
