Just for fun: Stories behind user names? (If horse related)

I joined when I was quite young and thought hunterprincez was a cute username. I am anything but a hunterprincez but I am too lazy to change it.

Mine is part of the name of my childhood farm and the birthday of my most favorite mare.

I am a Mainer who landed on her feet in North Carolina. So I am a Displaced Yankee (I think Relocated Yankee was too long or already used).

9 years later I still get “You’re not from around here, are you?” No, sir, I am not. Heck, I still get that from my SO’s very North Carolinian family (8 years with them).

My horse’s name is Woodrow. When I signed up with a nice glass of wine…I ended up with Woodrwo. A good reminder to not drink and type…

I showed Hunters and no, never did find all eight. I saw it on a trainers license plate as find8 and poached it with slight modification,

When I first got my horse, we weren’t sure we were going to keep the name he came with, so whenever we went to point him out to someone we’d say “the big grey”. We called him that for so long I was afraid he’d think it was his name!

My late Arab was 14.2, technically a pony. Baloney just sort of went with it. Now I have a real pony, only 13.2. The brown part of his pinto coat is turning a bit roan, so he may be Roany Pony Baloney.

PintoPony because that’s what I had as a kid and what I still love today.

@RainWeasley I love it!
Mine is not that interesting - just my horse’s colour.

This reminds me of a thread long ago in which a poster innocently referred to the user Appassionato, I believe, as Asspantio. One of those things my eye slid over until someone pointed it out and then I chortled more than any reasonably functioning adult should have.

My username refers to the fact that I have…greys. (Shocking leap there, I know.)

When we found our ranch it was truly a super deal in a great area and I said a place like this at this price only comes along once in a blue moon! That became the name! Blue Moon Ranch

I was on COTH for a long time as 3Spots – for which I had three appaloosa crosses. A small horseless gap in time and I am back with my first QH, a blue roan, with Driftwood in his pedigree. Little did I know the reputation of Driftwood and Hancock bred horses or else my username might have been “hesgotmynumber” or something.

Mine’s not horse related but I’m BigMama because I’m a mom and I’m fat

An old trainer gave me the nickname. It stuck

I don’t show hunters. What does “find 8” mean?

My name is a cat, not a horse. My ex hated cats (well anything that I cared about that might take one bit of attention from him truth be told).

So when we separated, and I knew for sure that it was for good, I got myself a kitten. She started out as Mathilda, then Tillie, then Tillie-Willie, and finally Ms Willie. MsWillie is the name that finally stuck. She lived to be about 20 years old and was a grouchy old girl when she got older. It fits.

I “Think” it is usually the last jump of the course (but there can be up to ten) as a course must have eight jumps… my kids used to compete the Foxie horse as a Hunter

There is a place in front of the jump from which the horse leaves the ground to jump the jump. If you are too close (a chip) the jump is awkward, if you are too far away, the jump is scary, and if you are just right, the horse can clear the jump in good form. A typical hunter course has 8 jumps, so you want to “find” 8 good distances or spots and allow your horse to jump in good form.

My username came from an advertisement on the sidebar. I’ve never been to Palm Beach and don’t particularly care for Florida. I do love beaches, especially those tropical ones with palm trees.
